The Past: It was a town born in the heart of the Kootenays, during the gold rush of 1895, deep in the rugged Cascade Mountains of Western Canada. A place where you kept one hand on your wallet, and the other on your gun. Named in a time when gold ruled its streets and crimson filled its gutters, it was named for what it was: Lawless But the rush ended, and the town began to die as the population dispersed in pursuit of other golden dreams. The Present: A local ski resort, struggling financially for decades from worsening winter fogs created by global warming, reinvents itself as a gambling destination and The Golden Nugget Casino and Resort is born. When a massive new gold strike is discovered near the mountain town, certain individuals decide to keep it secret -- people who want all the gold for themselves and will stop at nothing to keep it concealed. Already inaccessible by air due to fog, the remote town is rocked by a major seismic event and the residents are now land-locked as well, cut off from the rest of the world with no way out. Their only access, the Golden Mile Pass, now lies buried beneath millions of tonnes of rock, ice and snow. Awakened from its ancient slumber, a creature stalks the swirling, grey mists surrounding Lawless. It hunts for fresh prey, eating any living thing that crosses its path. A beast with a gnawing hunger that grows stronger by the minute. Its only thought, to satisfy its ravenous appetite.

#OutstandingOctober

I finished my three current reads and have started Claw and TWH. I‘m not sure I‘m loving the audio for Claw though, may try it on print too.
