The colors used also show the emotions of each character.

Me & Mama, by Cozbi A. Cabrera, 2020. This book was awarded a Caldecotte honor in 2021. It has beautiful illustrations with bright colors and big brush strokes to create a picture that jumps off the page. The theme is to enjoy the little things that people do together, like brushing your teeth and playing in the rain!

I love all of the pictures in this book. They are beautifully illustrated and help tell the story!

Published in 2020. Cozbi's book follows a young girl as she goes through her day with her mother. They do everything together and the young girl describes how her mothers things look compared to her own. I would not recommend this book to read in the classroom because multiple children in your room may not have a mother that they can follow around throughout the day. This book won the Caldecott award.

This book is a fiction book that won the Caldecott in 2021 and was published in 2020. It shows a great relationship between a daughter and her mother. It shows how and what her mother teaches her throughout the day. It was a good book I just don‘t fully know what kind of a lesson it could bring for a whole classroom. But still a good book!

This book was published in 2021 and was a Caldecott winner! This is a very cute story of a girls love for her mother. It shows the friendship and love that from between the mother and daughter and tells a story about the admiration the daughter has for her mom.

Caldecott Award, published in 2020. I love the way that this book portrays a little girl who looks up to her mom. She notices all of the similarities and differences between her and her mom, and tells the story of what happens during their day. This is such a cute story!!

“Splash!”

This is such a cute short story. It goes through an ordinary day of a young black girl. Children can relate to this story as they may feel the way the main character does about her mom. It includes dialogue that can be used for a great read aloud.

This book, Me & Mama, was published in 2021. It falls under the Caldecott award as a book honor. This book is perfect for young children. It includes beautiful scenes through illustration and fun dialogue. Children can engage and relate to this story!

“Mama laughs. She throws her head back and shines her teeth. I laugh too.”

I think this book would be a greta way to open a discussion with students about who is a role model in their life and who is someone that makes them feel that loved.

This 2020 picture book describes the sweet relationship between a mom and daughter. It fills you up with warmth and love and is a really positive read. The book received the Caldecott Award and the Coretta Scott King Award Honor for illustrations.

Me & Mama by Cozbi A. Cabrera is a Caldecott award winning book(2021). This book talks about the relationship of a young girl and her mom. She wants to be everywhere her mama is. This book show beautiful illustrations of nature, love, and difference.

“This is Mama‘s bowl she likes berries. This is my bowl. I like bananas.”

The illustrations are phenomenal and it really transports you back to when I was a child. It shows the desire to be just like your mother when you were a young girl. Very sweet.

The illustrations are realistic acrylic and are beautiful hues to match the tone throughout the story. This story really highlights the love of family and the relationship between mothers and daughters. It brings adults back into childhood. Published in 2021.

Mama‘s cup goes clink, clink, clink with a spoon. My cup goes duh, duh.

My first thought when reading this book was to show it at the beginning of the year. This could really help students out with missing their family during the first few days of school.

The Caldecott award book, Me & Mama was an eye catcher. The illustrations were beautiful which told a story within while also reading about the story. It went in depth of a day with the child and her mother and showed true love between the family.

I think the book shows the significance of the relationship between this child and her mother. It shows that she is her best friend and she can count on her mother for anything.

I liked the book it was a cute story for young children to listen to.

I loved this picture book! The illustrations were beautiful and the story was great.
