An amazing historical fiction story about Greek life, war, and a devastating LGBT love story. This book does a great job at setting the scene and being able to easily follow along through imagination. I couldn‘t put it down!

This is a book about a true story of a man named Jackson Pollock. He was a painter and he made paintings that searched for a more quiet life than NYC. I like this book because it shows his work and create ideas of art based on his work.

This book was so cute! It was about a girl who played the piano and she was so good that she began to play around the world and became known as the piano girl. Overall an amazing story!

Marian Anderson was one of America‘s greatest singers. This book demonstrates the challenges she faced growing up and her accomplishments. There is a color theme throughout the book in browns and copper. She was making her mark on the world pre civil rights.

This a good book to support English as a second language learners. The story is a mix of English and Spanish words. The girl Pura explains how hard it can be to move to a new place and be surrounded by a language you don‘t know. Everything is so, so different.

This was a major turning point for Ada. She was excited to realize that math and imagination did not have to be opposites- as her mother had wanted so desperately to impress upon her- they actually went together!

I really enjoyed this book because it‘s an encouraging story about women in the STEM field. Ada‘s mom didn‘t want her to grow up with a “wild imagination like her father” so she planned music lessons and royal balls for Ada to attend. Her mom didn‘t want her to be an engineer. This is about being sure to follow your dreams even if it‘s not what other people want for you.

This nonfiction book could be applied in older grades as well as younger grades. It has universal meaning. It gave incredible facts about water on each page. It teaches children we are fortunate to live where we do because people from other countries struggle to receive clean water daily. It gives suggestions how we can help those around the world!

This story was about the six days in October of 1929 when the stocks plunged like never before. It describes those six days to demonstrate what really took place. This would be good book to learn about our country‘s history with young learners.
