Seven Types of People You Find in Bookshops
Seven Types of People You Find in Bookshops | Shaun Bythell
5 posts | 4 read | 7 to read
Everyone knows who you find in bookshops: people who want to buy books. But, as Shaun Bythell, author of the bestselling Diary of a Bookseller and Confessions of a Bookseller, reveals, that's really only half the story.Join Shaun as he introduces us to seven bookshop characters, from the Person Who Doesn't Know What They Want (But Thinks It Might Have a Blue Cover) to the harried Parents Secretly After Free Childcare and all the way over to the erotica section, where we'll meet The Person Who Is Up to No Good. Affectionate, sardonic and laugh-out-loud funny, Seven Kinds of People You Find in Bookshops is your indispensable guide to the flora and fauna of your local bookshop.

I‘ve not been going out much - it‘s pretty much just been work and the occasional lunch out at a cafe… I‘m waiting to be eligible for my booster shot but today the urge to go into a bookshop hit hard - and since they were open til 6 and my shift finished at 5…

JanuarieTimewalker13 I‘m due for a library day. I just want to sit there and read and journal. After this blizzard has wrapped up.....lol 2y
Traci1 Ooh your pic is making me itch to get into a bookstore. 2y
Nute I definitely understand being safe. I hope that you enjoyed this sweet moment.☺️ 2y

thegirlwiththelibrarybag @Traci1, do you have a local favourite? 2y
thegirlwiththelibrarybag @JanuarieTimewalker13, a blizzard! That‘s something I‘ve never experienced - I‘m currently in summer hell. 2y
JanuarieTimewalker13 I would‘ve thought anyone who didn‘t like the heat was nuts years ago, but now I get it. I do better in the cold now, and I‘m old!!! But this cold is a little too much...it‘s below zero...and I haven‘t left the house since Thursday. We can swap hemispheres for a couple of days, how‘s that? 2y

Good. I listened to the audiobook version of this book. Nice short book. As I work in retail some of these people I have seen as they aren't just people who are exclusive to bookshops. Interesting read and funny at times.

Well, actually this is about nine kinds of people because Shaun tacked on two bonus sections at the end: Staff and Perfect Customer (Postscript). And each kind of people is broken out in to sub-categories so this book is really about many kinds of people you find in bookshops. Overall, though, this as a fun, short, listen and I laughed often. I think any bookstore fan or librarian will be able to relate to Bythell's observations.

Thanks to #netgalley for the ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review. A delightful read. Shaun, a second hand bookshop owner charmingly describes the 7 kinds of people that frequent bookstores. His descriptions of these people and their quirks is told in a disarmingly fun way, I found myself relating to a couple of the 7 types of people. A cosy feel good read for any book lover.⭐⭐⭐⭐ #netgalley #shaunbythell
