Her part-time jobs barely pay enough to get by in St John's, Newfoundland. Her story opens with police storming in through her front & back doors with a warrant. Full review:

Longlisted for the #gillerprize Eve Crocker's debut is centered around 20 somethings that are struggling in today's world. Struggling to make enough money, struggling to find their purpose, struggling to identify who they are in a world with so much pandemonium. Youth that have been brought up on technology, social media's influences and fluid sexuality. Fans of Sally Rooney will enjoy this one I think. Looking forward to more from this author!

We left, walking down Gower Street holding the hot chocolates. There were big flakes of snow coming down—normally the parade would be cancelled, but it had already been postponed three or four times due to bad weather.

We loved the high priests. We wrapped ourselves in navy sheets & stalked back & forth across the coffee table, singing along. Vic hated Jesus, she hated his lank blond hair & she thought his voice was whiny. When he stormed through the temple & smashed a slowly rotating rack of mirrors she sighed. “What a drama queen.”
