2 posts | 1 to read
When the The Dinosauria was first published more than a decade ago, it was hailed as "the best scholarly reference work available on dinosaurs" and "an historically unparalleled compendium of information." This second, fully revised edition continues in the same vein as the first but encompasses the recent spectacular discoveries that have continued to revolutionize the field. A state-of-the-science view of current world research, the volume includes comprehensive coverage of dinosaur systematics, reproduction, and life history strategies, biogeography, taphonomy, paleoecology, thermoregulation, and extinction. Its internationally renowned authorsforty-four specialists on the various members of the Dinosauriacontribute definitive descriptions and illustrations of these magnificent Mesozoic beasts. The first section of The Dinosauria begins with the origin of the great clade of these fascinating reptiles, followed by separate coverage of each major dinosaur taxon, including the Mesozoic radiation of birds. The second part of the volume navigates through broad areas of interest. Here we find comprehensive documentation of dinosaur distribution through time and space, discussion of the interface between geology and biology, and the paleoecological inferences that can be made through this link. This new edition will be the benchmark reference for everyone who needs authoritative information on dinosaurs.

Free to a good home: we cleaned out bookcases last week before we had painters in, and hubby decided this was not a something he wanted to keep. If anyone is interested, let me know. We‘ll be glad to send it your way.

Avanders Ooh cool! My little guy loves dinosaurs… is it like an encyclopedia of dinosaurs? 👍🏽 2y
Lynnsoprano @Avanders It‘s really an academic reference that‘s incredibly detailed. Even my husband found it overwhelming. However, he does have a really great book that would probably work for your young one. I‘ll dig it up and tag you. 2y
Avanders Ooooh funny — ok thanks! ☺️ 2y

Friday is hubby‘s birthday. Do you know how hard it is during the pandemic, when you‘re both retired and together ALL THE TIME to smuggle in and hide packages? 🤣 I finally opened this today because he left to go to the doctor. It‘s a monster book, over 800 pages of small type. This should keep him occupied for a while!

Butterfinger What a great gift. 4y
Lynnsoprano @Butterfinger He‘s been into geology and paleontology the last couple years. When he retired, our doctor told him he wasn‘t allowed to let his brain go to mush. He has taken that to heart. 4y
Yngvesjohanna I was really interested of dinos when I was 20 years. 🦕🦖🦕🦖🦕🦖🦕🦖 4y

Wordsling That's so sweet :) A surprise is always nice ! 4y
Lynnsoprano @Wordsling It will definitely be a surprise, I think. After 48 years of marriage, he deserves it. 4y
Wordsling Wow. 48 years of marriage 😍😍😍😍 Stuff of dreams 4y
ValerieAndBooks How thoughtful! He‘ll have a wonderful birthday! And I get it about both of you always being home together. My hubby has been working from home the last 6 months (a far cry from his constant work travel) and I can‘t really sneak in book purchases (for myself, lol) anymore. He can see my car or mail deliveries from his home office window 😂 4y
