⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️book two did not disappoint! These are dark and heartbreaking. You need time to spend and absorb the intensity of these books. World building and character development, how it should be!

So good. Better than the first book which was excellent. There‘s more of everything—danger, adventure, politics, sea battles—all in service of a brutal, compelling story where the forgotten ones, the people considered less than rise above their supposed weakness/unworthiness in fighting a new evil. And what an ending. I want to jump right into the next book…& I don‘t because once I read it this excellent series will be over. Original. Awesome.

Ever find yourself so immersed, so absorbed in a story you slow down, let your [usual] reading pace lag because you just don‘t want the book to end? Because I really don‘t want this book to end. It is such an original, fascinating world—brutal, terrifying, & beautiful all at the same time. Gah.

So yes, I‘m still very much enjoying my book and taking my time doing so. At least I still have one more book in the series after this one…

I absolutely love that each chapter begins with an illustration. I also love that the author dumps you right in the thick of things from page one—so much fun being back in this world!

Saturday book mail means I get to continue this epic—and endlessly fascinating—fantasy trilogy which has one of the most intriguing, imaginative, and dangerous worlds I‘ve encountered in a long time. Brutal and unforgettable, I can‘t wait to see where the Tide Child sails to next.

I had to get the third book too…of course…and with more Kingfisher as well I see lots of entertaining stories in my future!

Wow. I always struggle with the books that come later in a series, but this did not disappoint. I still think this series might be one of my favorites to date. It‘s just so original, has likable characters that are still human and flawed, dragons, pirates, talking birds, revolting caste systems— it‘s brilliant. Already preordered the third book that comes out in September! 10/10

Moving from Philly to San Diego this summer, and we‘re out West this week to try to figure out some housing. What better way to get to know my new city than by finding good places to read. 📚📚

TEArificbooks I love reading on their beaches there. 3y

‘The only odd thing that happened was as they went up the gangplank to Tide Child, Joron noticed that Farys, Anzir and Hastir hung back while supporting him, as if they wanted to ensure that Mevans was the first back aboard and Joron could not, for the life of him, work out why.‘

🤣 such a lovely touch

I‘m on book 2 of The Tide Child series and loving it! The characters are great and the world is so interesting! The author does a great job of telling you all about it without it taking over everything.
