⭐️⭐️ This book started off great!
What started out as a good set up, funny dialogue even if you‘re mostly in ST‘s head, soon becomes tiresome. Many of the encounters along the way become long winded and either rambling conversations. I admit, it lost me several times and quickly ran of steam to be interesting enough for me to care. I‘m so disappointed because I think the author was onto something here.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️proper vicious vampires in a gritty world that is dark and dangerous. Excellent characters that will break your heart! A worthy sequel and I can‘t wait for book 3!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️I‘ve never watched any family YouTubers cause it doesn‘t feel right but I followed this story closely. The oldest child of Ruby Franke is a brave and stronger than she knows you g girl to fight for her siblings and to see the truth of her abusive mother. I hope one day she sees the part the Mormon church played in this tragic story and break free of all her shackles. She is getting good therapy and I have no doubt she will be ok.

⭐️⭐️⭐️if you need a break from the world for something sweet and charming, this might be for you. A little too in the nose for my taste.

⭐️⭐️I expect so much better from this author. But this was dull, predictable and full of cardboard characters. It was beyond formulaic. I love my fast paced reads that don‘t require a lot of thinking but this wasn‘t it. If you want to just casually pass the time, maybe

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Absolutely literary genius! A devastating coming of age story with so much heart and grit. What a brilliant author! This book will break your heart and make your heart sour with its lyrical prose and beauty alongside its ugly. I cannot recommend enough! Will be one of my favorites!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Frankenstein is my favorite book ever! This book is one of the best biographies and just stuffed full of so many amazing facts about these kids who got together on a stormy night in Geneva! These young creatives gave us so much and were all tragically taken way too soon.

⭐️⭐️this book was a hot mess. No one to root for, poor constructed, convoluted! Was surprised because I loved Pretty Girls. Give this a pass!

⭐️⭐️⭐️While this author can definitely write gothic novels like no other, and this one holds in terms of style, but oof these characters! They took stars away especially the narrator, Phillip! This guy was beyond dumb, to the point of irritating more and not allowing to me to enjoy this this more.

🤮blech! That‘s how bad this was! The most annoying people ever with no character development whatsoever. The repetition of dialogue and bad behaviors all around make this a cringey read.

I love this authors lyrical way of telling a story. It almost feels like a fairytale . There is something ethereal and calming the way she writes no matter how brutal the subject matter. This was an excellent conclusion to this 2 books series with a bittersweet conclusion.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️honestly this author‘s books get better and better!!! Brilliant retelling of Grimm “godfather death”. World building, richly developed characters and lots of feels.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️A beautiful written book about an ugly subject matter. Trigger warning, child abduction and abuse. I loved the way the author wove in fairy tales as a coping mechanism to help deal with horrific circumstances and the power of imagination used to survive.

⭐️⭐️⭐️I loved the concept of this book but found myself super frustrated at the characters. The snapshots of being thrown back to the slave era times was an excellent idea. But using time travel as the tool yet not ever addressing it left me underwhelmed.

⭐️ hated it! Flat, uninteresting, boring characters and a story that went nowhere. Yes, I get that it‘s supposed to be satire but I didn‘t see it. Interesting concepts poorly executed.

⭐️⭐️unpopular opinion coming. I thought this book was poorly written, too many abrupt jumps. I didn‘t care for any of the characters and wanted to feel something g emotional connection but could not. I think I‘d rather read about the true woman this happened to, Eva Panic Nahir.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A completely engrossing and thought provoking novel on all levels. I almost gave up in the beginning, so glad I didn‘t. Once it grabs, it grabs hard.

⭐️⭐️⭐️ It took me a bit to get into this story and keep my characters straight, but once it got going, I found it very enjoyable.

It‘s wonderful to read books about other cultures and folk lore, superstitions and where those beliefs take them too. This one is set in 30‘s in Malaysia. It‘s part mystery, part magical and romance.

I personally am not a huge fan of magical realism and was somewhat hesitant to read this, but very glad I did.

⭐️⭐️If you want background noise to pass the time or road trip audio, this is fine. But if you‘re expecting a good read, this is not it. Some parts were ok but the entire wrap up was weird and predictable.

⭐️⭐️⭐️As a huge fan of Krampus and all the stories around this legend, I was looking forward to this one. I did love how Brom wove all@the bits of lore surrounding Krampus from other parts of the world, but the story itself felt a bit forced. It was ok. This was badly in need of an editor cause it was way too long. I found if getting repetitive. If it was buttoned up tighter, I would have loved it instead of just liked it enough.

⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2Flaws and all, I loved this book. This is one of his earlier books and you can see the talent coming our way. I loved all the intertwining stories of traveler‘s stopping along their journeys at a hostel on Venice Beach, and became very invested in their secrets. A little too coincidental in places but still highly recommended.

⭐️⭐️⭐️if you‘re a fan of folk horror or where these amazing stories about Krampus, mummers, waissling or other pagan rituals began, follow Susan Clegg around Europe, Iceland and Nordic countries as she learns the origin stories. Good stuff. I like my Christmas dark.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ magical books, lovely characters and diabolical villains! Wow I loved this debut novel. If you love time travel this is a goodie!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️I love Moriarty‘s books they are so entertaining and this one does not disappoint. I was so invested in every character. A wonderful lighter read for the holiday season.

⭐️⭐️⭐️a fun, fast paced twist little psychological thriller that I enjoyed quite a bit. Lots here to enjoy. The ending was a little “timely” and not sure how I feel about the “hero” of the story. Not perfect but worth your time.

⭐️⭐️concepts are still awesome but execution of this one was not even on the level@as book one. You can read the first book as a stand alone. I would recommend that. This was too jumpy and confusing.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Just give this one all the stars! Clocking in at 600 pages and it flew by! Who knew I would be rooting for spiders in space!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A beautifully written yet gritty and violent story of reverence and justice. The well developed characters enriches this horror story on the island of Puerto Rico after a hurricane 5 rips through bringing the demons within and the darkness needed for vengeance. A well blended book of culture, sea creatures, friendship and violence when they all crash together. Recommend

⭐️⭐️⭐️I really enjoyed Gil‘s All Fright Diner and this one didn‘t live up to that one. It was somewhat funny, dragged in the middle going nowhere, and I means nowhere forever. If you like ogres, orcs, goblins, sirens, demons, Amazonian and gods, well this has them all.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️a horrifying read exploring the dark sides of wellness and beauty industry, especially when you have many billionaires out there doing whatever the fuck they want. Body horror, gore, graphic and sad! Commentary on race, beauty standards, immigration, misogyny and capitalism rolled into one compelling speculative fiction. A MUST READ!

Lots of stuff going on, felt a little YA in parts, not all. I enjoy Broms artwork and storytelling . This wasn‘t his strongest book but just reading about Beel is worth it♥️

🎃🎃1/2 This was a big just ok book for me. The ending made it all worth it, however the journey getting there was unremarkable. Very little character development, lots of bumbling around waiting time. Started out strong, good premise, poorly executed. Overall it‘s fine because it‘s thankfully short.

🎃🎃🎃 This probably isn‘t fair to Mr. King, but I‘m not a huge fan of short stories so take my review lightly. There are some standout short stories I r read in the past they actually stick, like King‘s The Jaunt. Unforgettable!!! His son, Joe Hill gave me a couple I‘ll never forget. And one of my all time favorite books is the Martian chronicle. But there are far and few between.

These were just ok, no standouts for me.

🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃 this book weaves horror, gore, family trauma and humor effortlessly. Hats of to a well crafted story that is both shocking and delightfully entertaining. A wonderful protagonist that will win your heart.

⭐️⭐️⭐️I had some nitpicky stuff about this one but overall a pretty good read from@an indie author. If you like Lovecraftian horror, this one is a good choice. Weak ending, some repetitive dialogue and words but overall a fun time.

Rehashing these characters over and over again with the storyline long ago seemingly finished and brought back felt forced. Honestly I‘m tired of Constance back story and her whole ordeal with Leng. I‘m also in the fence about Diogenes. Not sure how he gets a redemption arc here when he was such a diabolical villain. Here he felt watered down and it didn‘t sit well.

I miss the old characters and want more vinnie and Pendergast.

Yea I just couldn‘t stay awake long enough for this.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ As a huge fan of Dexter, I can get behind this debut crime novel!

A fast paced crime fiction about a female version of Dexter who kills killers riding within the lines of shades of gray. I love Leah! She‘s an intriguing and smart woman. This is a twisty little gem if you like page turners and great summer thrillers.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️once again my go to author doesn‘t disappoint. Weaving social issues into his once again The One universe, this time with families hits all the right page turning spots

⭐️⭐️⭐️I love pirates!!! 🏴‍☠️ I needed to learn the fates of these men after devouring Black Sails. The audio was very entertaining although a bit cartoony for me in comparison but overall fun.

⭐️⭐️⭐️ I‘m pretty sure if I read this before the film I would have loved it. But I couldn‘t shake knowing the secret from my brain. I didn‘t feel the same way about Mystic River but this one was solely based on the reveal so it was just an ok for me.

I loved the way Lehane laid everything out and being in Teddys mind was unsettling. It‘s an excellent book if you don‘t know.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️An incredibly intense read! The horrors of Vietnam and how it impacted the men and women who served and the disheartening trip back to heal and be whole again while being unsupported by the country you served. A bright light on the women nurses who sacrifices need to be known!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Woo hoo! Am I happy to have found this author. I loved Look Closer, and now this one!!! If you need a super fun, sometimes snarky, thriller with more plot twists than a pretzel, this one is the one! Completely entertaining with very likable characters and some not so much.

Nothing is worse than being promised a thriller where you can guess so much. At least I know with these books I‘m gonna be surprised and blown away!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Lots of dread, anxious, sad feelings around this one. Writing from an 8 year olds perceptions of the world while being haunted by an entity was a brilliant idea.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The concept of these books is huge! I loved all three although I had to focus a lot with book 3 lol! Lots of hard sci fi but he writes in such a way that you get it. It‘s a bit bleak however leaves a sliver of hope. I have never been invested or entertained in this genre as I have with these.

This isn‘t for everyone and I certainly wasn‘t sure it was for me, but I love this series.
