My first time reading this author and at first I worried that my expectations had been too high. But once I got sucked in I absolutely loved it. Such well written characters, and the mother-in-law from hell!

#4 of #14Books14Weeks2021 . Susan Mallery does it again with The Vineyard at Painted Moon! Mallery has once again created a captivating story filled characters that you love to love and love to hate! Mackenzie Is a renowned wine maker at the top of her field and would be well sought after in her area If it weren't for the fact that everyone fears crossing Barbara, Mackenzie's boss and mother in law, & (cont in comments)...
I absolutely adored this book... I loved the setting (it made me want to be out among the vines at a vineyard) And the character arcs were great (I want to be friends with Mackenzie, Stephanie and Four, and want to slap Barbara). A great read about starting over and finally getting everything you ever wanted!
When all that you have known changes, you find out if you have the strength to go on. Love, divorce, family, and friendship...this book has it all. I really enjoyed it!
I LOVED this book! It has been quite awhile since I read a book that was able to make me laugh, cry, gasp, smile and be frustrated. And to actually hate a character! Such incredible writing by Susan Mallery to provide all that in one book! I was so sorry when this book came to an end! I wanted to continue to read about Mckenzie's life, to see what next happy moment was to come. I really hope that Susan Mallery continues this in a second book!
“MacKenzie Dienes's life isn't perfect, but it's as close as she could ever hope to get.
Her marriage to Rhys, her best friend's brother, is more friendship than true love.
But passion is highly overrated, right?”
And look at that inviting cover!!

A real page-turner. I did not want to put it down. An engaging plot with equally engrossing sub-plots. Laden with emotion. A satisfying story of family and friendship and resiliency.
I wasn‘t too sure of this book the first ¼ of the way through. The whole issue with Mackenzie and her husband got a bit much. However before the halfway point things really started to unfold. The family dynamics are fascinating and heartbreaking.
Barbara made me think of my grandma a lot, and while she is in no way that extreme, the undertones are sadly there.
It‘s beautifully written.
The galley fairies were very generous this week. We start with the next Susan Mallory that also came with an awesome bag. #bookmail. Sorry I haven‘t posted earlier but I have been in the land of little cell service and no internet.
