5 posts | 3 read
Pulling off an impossible crime is the only way he can stay alive. Stealing a Faberge egg. Surviving a double cross. And pulling off the most incredible robbery ever, for the worlds most demandingand dangerous collector. This will be the challenge of thief extraordinaire Riley Wolfes life. Fool Me Twice opens in St. Petersburg, where Riley steals the eggno easy task. Betrayed by the pilot he hired to help him get away, he wakes chained to a rock wall on one of the Kerguelen Islandsthe most remote spot on earthprisoner of a top-dog international arms dealer, and a top-notch art collector. He wants Riley to steal an artwork. Small problem--its a fresco, The Liberation of St. Peter. Slightly larger problem--its in the Vatican. And, it's a literal wall. Riley has no choice: agree or die. But when his captor turns him loose, he's grabbed by another arms dealer looking to do a double cross. Worse, he gives Riley a special incentive: a surveillance photograph of Monique, the love of his life, and more important, the art forger he can't pull off any heist without. The threat is clear. Riley knows they both have only one way out. With wicked dialogue, tons of explosive twists, and cinema-worthy scenes, Jeff Lindsays Fool Me Twice is another wildly entertaining caper starring the anti-hero youll root for, Riley Wolfe.

Pickpick

Riley Wolfe starts off stealing the Rothschild Faberge egg and then ends up blackmailed into stealing a frescoe, which is in a wall... in the Vatican. The art history and the back drop are amazing, and Lindsay did a lot to move Riley forward as a character with emotions... but not quite enough. There‘s too much collateral damage to sympathize with Riley or see him as the Robin Hood he believes himself to be. A pick if you really love a good heist.

I was fooled at least once so far by Fool Me Twice, I didn‘t know this was a series! I hate reading things out of order so I pulled Lady from the Black Lagoon out of the TBR pile to keep me busy until I can get to the book store for the 1st book.

DarkMina Me too! It drives me nuts if I read books in a series out of order. 😁 4y

I didn‘t love the first one - Riley‘s nowhere near as compelling as Dexter is as a character - but I didn‘t dislike it enough not to give the second one a shot. I‘ve already read half of it after starting last night at like 9:00, so at the very least, it‘s a page-turner, and while I still find Riley kinda‘ irritating, I‘ve read things I‘ve disliked more. 😂 #foolmetwice #jefflindsay #rileywolfe
