Unfinished: A Memoir | Priyanka Chopra Jonas
8 posts | 11 read | 3 to read
In this thoughtful and revealing memoir, readers will accompany one of the worlds most recognizable women on her journey of self-discovery. I have always felt that life is a solitary journey, that we are each on a train, riding through our hours, our days, our years. We get on alone, we leave alone, and the decisions we make as we travel on the train are our responsibility alone. . . . A remarkable life story rooted in two different worlds, Unfinished offers insights into Priyanka Chopra Jonass childhood in India; her formative teenage years in the United States; and her return to India, where against all odds as a newcomer to the pageant world, she won the national and international beauty competitions that launched her global acting career. Whether reflecting on her nomadic early years or the challenges she has faced as she has doggedly pursued her calling, Priyanka shares her challenges and triumphs with warmth and honesty. The result is a book that is philosophical, sassy, inspiring, bold, and rebellious. Just like the author herself. From her dual-continent twenty-year-long career as an actor and producer to her work as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, from losing her beloved father to cancer to marrying Nick Jonas, Priyanka Chopra Jonass story will inspire a generation around the world to gather their courage, embrace their ambition, and commit to the hard work of following their dreams.

It is always interesting to peek inside a well known person‘s life before, during, and present climb to fame. But this is a story of East meets West in an authentic and dynamic manner. So exciting and it is written in a so real way including both magical and mis-step adventures. I am compelled to watch episodes of Quantico and Indian movies I have missed. She is a force! & so relatable. Loved it.

I came across this in Libby while scrolling nonfiction audios. I knew nothing of her other than she is married to Nick Jonas. She was a Miss India and Miss World. An actress. An ambassador for Unicef. A film director with her own company. Through her actions she tries to change things such as India's view on women and beauty. I learned many interesting things about Indian culture, like the many traditional things associated with weddings. ⬇️

tdrosebud Overall it was an easy read, or listen, and I found myself enjoying it. #nfn21 @coffees @rsteve388 #readingasia2021 #india @BarbaraBB @Librarybelle 3y

Mehso-so

She seems lovely & certainly has lived a charmed life. But this is a very surface level memoir that doesn‘t offer up much that a Google search wouldn‘t bring up. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Being a big fan of her's since childhood, I knew I would enjoy this. But I had no idea how much emotionally invested I was going to get with this one. Now that's a bit of a shock, a jolly good shock though.

I‘ve been a fan of Priyanka‘s since Andaaz (around 2003) many years before she became famous in America with Quantico. I liked hearing her antics growing up, the backstory of film/TV projects etc. I just feel like she held back and didn‘t reveal much in general. She didn‘t address the rumors about her relationship with (married) Akshay Kumar and no backstory on Mujhse Shaadi Karogi (my fave movie of hers) maybe because he was in it. 😕

HOTPock3tt I get that India is a conservative country in general, and she was probably afraid to address anything controversial. And it‘s her choice what she talks about... but I felt like she held back so much that it made the story a bit bland 😶 still good... but lacked the punch. (edited) 4y
HOTPock3tt I‘m still so proud of her every time I mention her name here in America and people actually KNOW who I‘m talking about! ❤️ I‘m happy for the tremendous amount of success she has gained all around the world. And I‘m happy to have been on board throughout her journey into Bollywood films and Into American movies/TV. Can‘t wait to see her in Matrix 4! 💖😃 (edited) 4y
