This book is #WithEyes in title & the cover photo. I read it a couple of years ago for #FoodandLit #Ethiopia & still think about it.

I have just managed to read one book for #FoodandLit #Ethiopia but I enjoyed it. Miriam is a midwife, adopted from Ethiopia to the UK as a toddler & comes back to work at an Addis Ababa hospital. She delivers a premature baby & when the teenage mother leaves her, Miriam takes on her care. There‘s a lot more to the story than that but not enough characters. I thought it an interesting look at a more modern Ethiopia & it‘s a short read.Here with⬇️

I‘m still reading the book but the month isn‘t quite over yet for #FoodandLit #Ethiopia 😉 My Misr Wot or Ethiopian Red Lentil Stew was delicious. The spiced clarified butter (nit‘r qibe) & the berbere spice blend gave it so much flavor. It should be served with injera bread but I have had it before & don‘t really love it so I ate mine with a spoon & with rice.😉 Recipe (from Saveur magazine) link is below.

My plans for March #FoodandLit #Ethiopia 🇪🇹

The tagged book is on my Kindle (set in Ethiopia & while the author is British, she served as a lactation consultant in public hospitals in Addis Ababa). I have the audiobook of the other one from an Ethiopian author on audio from the library.

Food-wise, I‘ll make Ethiopian Lentil Stew (misr wot) & will either buy or make my own berbere spice mix for it.

And we‘ll see what else gets in my way.
