Dear Cici and Father, I have come to Devon and married a duke. And I'm more tired and hungry than I have ever been in my life. Please let me come home.

Pickpick

A decent historical romance with a unique premise that was a quick and easy read. It contains, however, the slimiest, most repulsive antagonist I‘ve run across in a long time. For anyone who‘s old enough to remember the Eddie Haskell character from Leave It to Beaver, think Eddie on steroids 🤣🤣

Throwback to last night, when I ate miso eggplant steaks and read a bit of THE INCONVENIENT DUCHESS. I meant to use this book in yesterday‘s TBR post, but when I read the jacket copy I had serious doubts it‘d survive the 3-chapter test. It seemed safer to post about something else and try the book right away.

And hey, I really like it so far! It‘s not nearly as skeevy as the copy makes it sound, and I‘m already invested in everyone‘s secrets.

Lreads I‘ve never had eggplant before but seeing this has made my stomach growl! 😋☺️ 4y
xicanti @QuietlyLaura I highly recommend eggplant! It‘s tasty and versatile. This is the first time I‘ve ever cooked it with miso, but it‘s been the star of many other delicious meals for me. 4y
