The last line of my review: This is okay for the romance, weak on the mystery, but a decent enough read if you're just killing time. How's that for damning it with faint praise? Full review at http://booknaround.blogspot.com/2022/10/review-venice-sketchbook-by-rhys-bowen.h...

Librarybelle I completely agree with your review. It was okay, but just okay. I prefer her mysteries! 1y

I‘m trying to keep my mom‘s dog from hunting my cats (the hunter is here until Saturday) and it keeps interrupting my intention to start this one. The little brat looks like he‘s sound asleep and then launches himself into full terror mode in no time flat and the cats are completely traumatized.

Librariana Very deceitful picture then! He looks like an angel! Sorry about your kitty cats. 2y

Wow. A heartbreaking romance during the World War 2 period; tripped over and discovered by her great niece when taking her ashes back to Venice. Them 2nd excellent book I‘ve read by this author. I‘m obviously going to have to explore more of her writing.

I really enjoyed this book. The beautiful city of Venice, romance, war, etc. Dual timeline of Juliet in 1928-1943 and her great niece Caroline in 2001. Caroline is dealing with her own crisis when Juliet leaves her 3 keys and tells her to go to Venice… the story and mystery unravel from there.

In this dual timeline historical fiction, a family secret unearths life changing events in WWII Venice. Admittedly, I was a bit underwhelmed by the storytelling. The characters did not overly impress me, but I found I had to keep reading, just to see how everything unfolded. So-so for me.
