This book was phenomenal and it sucked me right in! As long as you can keep up with the ever-changing timelines and who is who! She is becoming one of my favorite authors! So good.
Last year, I loved Hausmann‘s English debut of DEAR CHILD- so I was ecstatic to receive an #ARC of her second book to be translated from German. The fragmented style as the story unfolds merges murders, affairs & justice across decades. The nonlinear format made me enjoy reading it over listening to the audio ARC- but I did appreciate hearing the proper pronunciations! And the last half flew by! The format makes it hard to guess what‘s next!
Sleepless has a lot of twists and turns. It was quite hard to keep character and timelines connected with the audiobook. Hopefully, as a physical or digital book it would be easier. Towards the end everything does get cleaner and more clear as to what is happening.
A woman has killed her lover and gets the help of her friend and ex-con, who was in prison for murdering her mother, to get rid of the body before her husband gets home.
Don‘t know how to rate this. The characters are highly wooden, implausible and flat. The story is difficult to follow because of all the time jumps. The first 1,5 hours I had no idea what was going on … Later, I kept an imaginative list of all the plot holes. But then, short before the end, came this one turn I couldn‘t imagine – I now I sit here indecisive.
Better than „Liebes Kind“, yes, but to constructed. Almost ended up being a „Pan“.
Tagged my new audiobook. Will be starting it on Wednesday, latest. ‘Cause, you know, it‘s Snooker World Championship final today and tomorrow and (audio)reading is always neglected by me during these 17 days … 🤷ðŸ½â€â™€ï¸ðŸ˜Š
I already lost 1-2 reservations at my library because items dropped in in line but I was unable to manage to work through. 🙈
