I really wanted to love this book because it‘s rare that I come across a Black Filipina main character that reflects me and heritage. There were some elements that I like…particularly how both cultures showed up in her work but it felt off and a bit forced. I think the narration did little to help as some of the Tagalog words were mispronounced. #blitsy #readdiversebooks
8/10 for this book. Sweet romance and a work/life balance lesson. Great weekend read. There are no juicy parts 😜 just sweet kisses and longing. Gotta love reading with Lt.Uhura. Main character has a chronic illness and finds love without it surrounding her illness. #woc #blacklove #chronicillness #sicklecell #blasian
Hi Keia! @Blerdgal_Fenix mail is taking so long to go back and forth, I figured we should pick our buddy read this way our else we might not make it in summer! 🤣🤣 I love your suggestions, I've read The Proposal and Circe, and I'm actually reading Southern Book Club right now! So I'd lean towards one of the books pictured for a fun, summer romance read. Do you have a preference between the two?
A Lowcountry Bride is an affecting story of discovering identity, fulfilling dreams, dealing with loss, keeping faith, and finding love. The authenticity with how the characters‘ culture came across strongly emphasizes the importance of providing opportunities for own voices stories, of lifting marginalized creators, of representation and inclusion. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
