Great collection of short stories centering around Jamaicans and Jamaican immigrants in the US. My fave story was loosely inspired by Rihanna!

I am so mad it has taken me so long to read this book! It was great. A bit slow at the beginning, but once I figured out the charcters and plot, within the first few chapters, I was hooked. It is an inventive and unique dystoption/scify novel. I loved Maggie has a main character, and I loved that Native American cultire was such a huge part of the plot.

My #favorite Author of Color is Alice Walker. Her must-read book is “Their Eyes Were Watching God”, also by a WOC, and has been on my TBR for a while. Now I‘m super motivated to read it! #woc #aoc #intersectionality #raisethemup #queerreads #agameoffavorites @ErinSueG

I‘m staying in a hostel in Moab. You know it‘s a blue town in a red state when the coffee table books are “The Vagina Monologues” and a surreal, alt reality #BookInTranslation by a #WOC. I would seriously consider moving here if it weren‘t so blasted hot. I want to meet the people who run this place! I think we could be friends! I‘m sad I won‘t have the time to read their coffee table books. Maybe they‘ll let me do an exchange?😂

Betty I enjoyed read and watching The Vagina Monologues 1y
