Jak’s life has only one meaning; break the curse or die trying. Marius’s life has no meaning; not since he was cursed into the twisted, blood thirsty creature of night. For years the witches have waited for their salvation, a way to return the magic that was sacrificed when the curse was first cast. Jak, a boy born with power that the witches have not seen in a century, is their prophesied saviour. The one who is to kill the creature, break the curse and restore magic to his coven. Sent to the creature’s castle as the final Claim, Jak must get close enough to land the final blow. It is what he has trained all his life to accomplish. Not all is as it seems when Jak uncovers secrets and half-truths. The creature is not the haunting beast he had been brought up to hate. Emotions war as new feelings are uncovered. For what is more dangerous than hate? Lust.

Bailedbailed

The writing is just so... Writer-y. I can't stop cringing at the lines used. I almost bailed after the first 4 minutes, but hung on a bit longer to see if it got better. It didn‘t, so after the fire scene, which didn‘t make a lot of sense to me (why did he think the creature would come save him?????) I decided it was time to jump ship.

PuddleJumper I didn't get on with his other series for very similar reasons and the addition of sexual assault. Think I'll avoid this author 2mo
Kenyazero Dang! Sounds like a good thing I didn‘t get very far 😆 1mo

Pickpick

Soft pick, this was a decent palate cleanser. A Beauty and the Beast retelling with a vampire and a witch sent to get close to him and kill him in order to break a curse. The writing was a bit mediocre and the story predictable, but it was a quick entertaining read and I'll check out the next in the series.

Some of the action and narrative were rushed, I'm guessing to centre the romance more but would've loved to see it extended to fully explore the story itself. Enjoyed regardless.

I really enjoyed this book in the beginning and middle it was the ending that I had the issue with. I am not sure, I think it was an amazing story line and everything! It‘s just the end was not executed right it almost felt rushed.

I really liked that this was a MM retelling of Beauty and the Beast. It was pretty well written and I enjoyed the characters. It became a little repetitive and the author was building up the ending.... which fell a little flat 🤷‍♀️.
