Death in Zanzibar
Death in Zanzibar | M. M. Kaye
3 posts | 4 read | 1 reading | 1 to read
Written by celebrated author M. M. Kaye, Death in Zanzibar is a wonderfully evocative mystery ... Dany Ashton is invited to vacation at her stepfather's house in Zanzibar, but even before her airplane takes off there is a stolen passport, a midnight intruder--and murder. In Zanzibar, the family house is Kivulimi, the mysterious "House of Shade," where Dany and the rest of the guests learn that one of them is a desperate killer. The air of freedom and nonchalance that opened the house party fades into growing terror, as the threat of further violence flowers in the scented air of Zanzibar. Richly evocative, Death in Zanzibar will charm long-time fans and introduce new ones to this celebrated writer.

Mehso-so

I remembered nothing of this one, which doesn't surprise me as I've only read it once (as opposed to Cyprus, Berlin, and Kashmir), and I doubt I'll read it again in future. It's entertaining but it's even more misogynistic than the others and the plot is completely unbelievable. But, as I said, it's entertaining and it definitely took me away from my current circumstances which is one of my priorities when I read. 🤷‍♀️

I'm back to comfort reading (which is what this series is to me) but my copy has such a wonderfully awful 80s cover that I decided to see what other covers there are. These are all pretty good, I think. I'll post a pic of my dreadful copy when I finish it.

I have absolutely no recollection of how or when I obtained this book. #dreamingofawarmerclimate

KCorter That happens to me every time I reorganize my bookshelves! The books must breed. It is definitely not that I have a problem with bringing home a book almost every time I go out. Not that at all. ;) 9y
Dolly @KCorter I've had a couple follow me home from a garage sale😉 9y
KCorter @Dolly It is kind of you to give stray books a home. 9y
