Mehso-so

An enemies to friends to lovers romance. A bit cheesy with no spice, hence the so-so rating. Not quite as good as the first Jansen brothers book, but it was a fun, fast read.

Book 2 for #joyousjanuary

Andrew65 Well done, just a shame it wasn‘t better. 👏👏👏 (edited) 1y

This book is perfect for someone who doesn‘t want the gut wrenching suspense or heart splaying, emotional drain of some romantic comedies or the steamy/lust field scenes of others. How to Love Your Neighbor is great for anyway who wants to keep it light and just needs a reminder that anything is possible, there is someone for everyone, and friendship is what makes the world go round.

This was sweet and sassy. A great read. Thanks to Edelweiss and the publisher for a DRC.

Definitely a cute enemies to lovers rom-com with some HGTV vibes. I enjoyed it but nothing too original.

A cute enemies-to-lovers romance novel featuring two neighbors and some DIY home renovations.

This was so hard for me to finish because the characters were lacking of any realistic qualities. I almost quit with only 5 chapters left but I forced my way to the end. It's a good fluff read but if you're wanting 3 dimensional characters with depth this isn't it.

In this follow-up to TEN RULES FOR FAKING IT, older brother Noah is the romantic lead. He‘s moved from NYC to prove that he can finish a project-& even get his hands dirty. But his new neighbor‘s small house stands in the way of his dream pool… Grace is determined to have everything she didn‘t grow up with- but is working with her neighbor too hard? The HGTV vibe adds to the fun (the magazine part is implausible) but not quite as fun as her first!

This was probably more of an OK for me. Grace is finishing up an interior design degree when she inherits a house from grandparents she never knew. Noah is a wealthy real estate developer who wants to buy her house (next door) to build a pool. While they initially clash, there is an instant attraction they can‘t deny and only grows as Grace is hired to ⬇️

robinb re-design his home for a prestigious magazine. They bond over shared parental issues (her mom is basically a deadbeat/his dad is a power mogul with competitive issues) and fears/hopes for their futures. I enjoyed the banter and relationship development. I also appreciated that their intimate moments were off-page (which is almost unheard of in contemporary romance books). ⬇️ 2y
robinb But I felt in some instances they seemed a bit immature for their ages (her 29, him early 30s) and sometimes acted out in childish ways. Overall a decent story but a bit par for the course and not particularly unique. 3.5/5⭐️ 2y
