4/5 ⭐️ Sweet story during Hanukkah with a cat and dog who help to make the holiday special 🕎 🥔🍎
And I made latkes with applesauce last night!! They were absolutely delicious and brought back wonderful memories of my gram making potato pancakes 🥰

RamsFan1963 I'd say tater tot, but that's only because I can't get a good knish in West Virginia lol 1y
TheBookHippie @RamsFan1963 😬😝😅 1y
dabbe Mine's not there: a baked potato with chives, sour cream, and butter. Can I eat this for breakfast? 1y
TheBookHippie @dabbe Yes!!! I do it often!!! 1y
Sleepswithbooks If this is what kind of potato we LOOK LIKE, then I‘m a tater. But if it‘s how do I FEEL, maybe a baked potato. Not baked like *high* but baked like, round and soft. 1y
dabbe @TheBookHippie 👍 Cool beans! I mean potatoes! 😂 1y
TheBookHippie @Sleepswithbooks 🥔🍠🤣😅😜 1y
Lynnsoprano I‘ve had tahdig, but never a potato tahdig. Rice AND potatoes = carb overload! But that tahdig crust is to die for. 😋 1y
TheBookHippie @Lynnsoprano Oh it‘s soooooo good! 1y

In 2022, Hanukkah begins at sundown on Sunday, December 18, and continues through Monday, December 26. The first candle is lit on the Chanukiah (menorah) on the first night of Hanukkah. 🕎

4 ⭐ This was a wonderful story. Where I live, we do not get Jewish stories very often, so I am always excited to learn something new. This story is sweet and hopeful with wonderful illustrations. It is a fun read weather you celebrate Hanukkah or not.

Kids like this book and it‘s a wonderful way to explain Hanukkah 💙

GingerAntics I thought Latkes were made out of potatoes? Do they taste good with applesauce? 2y
TheBookHippie @GingerAntics YES and YES!!! Picture is from when I ate them at the Russian Tea room! Mine never make it long enough for a picture because I've eaten them!! BAHAHAHA. Also I use cinnamon applesauce ! HA... 2y
GingerAntics I was just looking at the recipe and they sound really good. There is even an article for why applesauce is the correct sauce for Hanukkah latkes, not sour cream. I‘m clearly envisioning this wrong. I‘m imaging hash brown patties in applesauce. This can‘t be right. 2y

TheBookHippie @GingerAntics NO NOT SOUR CREAM. It is an ongoing argument! But no not hash brown and regular applesauce. I use homemade applesauce, and we make the latkes. It is just yummmmm. 2y
GingerAntics @TheBookHippie I‘m going to have to try one of these recipes now. So is the applesauce warm? I remember warm homemade applesauce as a kid. I would probably dip anything in there. 2y
TheBookHippie @GingerAntics yes we eat it warm but some folks use cold 🤷🏻‍♀️ 2y
GingerAntics @TheBookHippie and some people are weird. Warm, homemade applesauce is the best. 2y
TheBookHippie @GingerAntics I agree, we sometimes melt a box of redhot candies in it! SO YUM. 2y
GingerAntics @TheBookHippie Hm… I never thought of that!!! That would really give it a kick!!! 2y
