pickI chose this book because I have good friends from India and I miss them so much; my family moved away from where they live in the US. Reading about cultures that are so different from my own is an enlightening experience for me. Shah challenged the caste system, race, and cultural expectations in this fantastically written novel. I‘ll be looking for a sequel, I want to know where Preeti goes next in her quest for self discovery. Book #11 in 2022
pickI really enjoyed this book. I felt so immersed in Indian culture and tradition. While I'm not Indian nor immigrant I'm a daughter of immigrants and I related so much to Preeti when she talks about not feeling like she belongs to neither, too American for India and to Indian for America. Same girl same. Leaning about India's caste system was so interesting. The food 😋 😍 I want some authentic Chai tea 🍵 now!
