Written in the style of W. G. Sebald though it pre-dates Sebald by a good 85 years. Master class in observation and description of life in 1900 Versailles over a number of weeks. No plot. No characters. Just scenes of life.

jlhammar Definitely sounds like something I would like. Being public domain, looks like there is a free audio version on LibriVox if anyone is interested. I‘m going to try to track down a copy with the illustrations. 3y
