7 posts | 3 read
When a young Peter Parker is given the fantastic powers of an arachnid, he must also deal with the fantastic pressures of an everyday teenager. Check out these stories of spectacular web-slinging adventure from Spidey's very beginning, including the tragic origin that started it all, the first appearances of the Daily Bugle, J. Jonah Jameson, Doctor Octopus, the Sandman, the Vulture, Electro, and guest-star nods by the Fantastic Four and Human Torch. Collects Amazing Spider-Man (1963) #1-10.

My 20 year old son and I chilling on the couch reading these two together. Just like when he was little. It‘s a Christmas Miracle!

Pickpick

So much of this book is WEIRD and not always in a good way (Peter is So Angry, talling about how he'll crush the people who laugh at him???) but I find myself charmed by it. The art, the odd details, the hyperbole present on every cover about how it's the most amazing issue ever - as a whole it works.

Peter, you are on page 2 and you are putting out too much of a mad scientist vibe.

The time has finally come to see if my Spider-Man trashhood extends to the comics...

khooliha I like all the movies, even the bad ones, and my main problem with the other Spider-Man GN was lack of context. Let's see if context makes the difference! 5y

RIP Steve Ditko - truly an artist who was a formative influence on my life 💗

Leftcoastzen Oh no ,so sad now. 6y
Bookwomble @Leftcoastzen Although he was, sadly, a right-wing oddball, his artwork and creative input to Spider-Man, Dr. Strange and others were a big influence on me as a kid. https://www.thewrap.com/steve-ditko-spider-man-dies/ 6y
Leftcoastzen Forgot he was an Objectivist 6y
