Give Me Liberty!: An American History
Give Me Liberty!: An American History | Eric Foner
2 posts | 3 read | 4 to read
Give Me Liberty! is the leading textbook in the market because it works in the classroom. A single-author book, Give Me Liberty! offers students a consistent approach, a single narrative voice, and a coherent perspective throughout the text. Threaded through the chronological narrative is the theme of freedom in American history and the significant conflicts over its changing meanings, its limits, and its accessibility to various social and economic groups throughout American history. With the Seagull Edition, students get the full text in a value-edition format: two-color, a selection of the illustrations and maps in the regular edition, and a basic version of the pedagogy. The price is half that of the regular edition, and less than the Brief Edition.

I quite my job a to go back to school full-time. So, I guess you could say that, for right now, being a full-time college student is my job. My pic for today's #SeptPhotoChallege #WorkplaceBooks is of the textbooks I've kept, a few lit mags and a couple journals. I graduated with my Associate's degree in May and now I'm starting on my Bachelor's! Hopefully, 3 years from now, I will be a newly minted high school English teacher!

Lacythebookworm That's great! Good luck! 👍 8y

Alfoster @Valkyrie923 I'm so excited for you! Taught high school English for 40 years (newly retired) and I loved every single day! The coolest thing is you will learn as much from your kids as they do from you! Awesome!! 8y
the.bookish.valkyrie @Alfoster I always love getting feedback and encouragement from current/retired teachers. I get anxious about it sometimes! 8y
kspenmoll That's great! I co- teach 9th grade English now & I love! Always learning from students & literature, non- fiction we read. 8y
the.bookish.valkyrie Thanks! @kspenmoll I'm hoping to get a job as a sub this semester to kinda dip my toes in the pool and get a little financial relief! 8y

Pickpick

I'm not usually much of a political reader, but I do believe that we should make an effort to know our history before we make political statements, or choices. This text is highly informative and honestly the least biased or skewed view of US history that I have encountered so far. So this is my pick for #AugustOfPages #AugustPhotoChallenge #PoliticsAndBooks

MrBook I wholeheartedly concur with your review! Added. Thank you for the rec! 8y
