I‘m hoping to get to these before the Arkansas Literary Festival at the end of April. The festival has a fantastic line up of authors and these are my most anticipated. Definitely doable!

Rasa, from an unnamed Middle Eastern country, attends college in the US. He hopes to explore what it means to be a gay man, but in the wake of 9/11 is confronted with what it means to be Arab. He finds answers in books.

Finished just in time for dinner. This book is quick (started it yesterday at lunch). The suspense is built from the very first sentence: “The baby is dead.” If you‘re looking for a psychological thriller with deep dives into the characters‘ psyches, I would certainly recommend it.

Starting a new lunch time read!

Starting this one tonight. I love books that take place over the course of 24 hours!

Two recent books that I‘ve read featuring mer-people 🧜‍♂️🧜‍♀️ that couldn‘t be more different. The Mermaid and Mrs. Hancock is historical fiction with a merchant, courtesan, and of course, a mermaid. The writing is charming.

The Pisces on the other hand is contemporary and has a lot of sex between a woman and her merman friend. (Any questions you may have about having a sexual encounter with a merman are answered ☺️) A weird one, but a pick.

It‘s reading in the 🛀 time! Hope to finish this one up tonight.

I‘m thinking about continuing my Connie Willis reads with Crosstalk. Thoughts? Anyone listened to this?

After reading White Houses by Amy Bloom, I was eager to learn more about Eleanor Roosevelt. I ordered the first of a 3-part Roosevelt biography that I‘ve heard good things about. I‘ve also wanted to read Fire Sermon since it was released, so I added that onto my order for free shipping 😉
