A quiet neighborhood. A lovely home. A promising new beginning. In a heartbeat everything can change in this propulsive novel of suspense by USA Today bestselling author Kaira Rouda. Julie Jones has left her suffocating marriage. With her teenage daughter, Jess, she's starting over. Their new house in Oceanside is the first step toward a new life. Even if it does come with the unexpected. The previous owners, a pastor and his wife, have left something--or rather someone--behind... Tom Dean has a bitter hatred for the father who considers him a lost cause, and for the woman who's moved into their family's house. The only home he's ever known. He's never going to leave. She thinks he'll be gone in three days, but Tom has the perfect plan. For a newly single mother and her daughter, a fresh start is the beginning of a nightmare. Before the weekend is over, somebody is going to get exactly what they deserve.

Rouda dished up her usual set of characters that we love to hate. I can‘t say I liked any of the characters. It was more like they got what they deserved. But I did enjoy the various points of view throughout the book. I got a better grasp of the various issues through those views.

SOMEBODY'S HOME is intense and well written but the story line was upsetting for me with all the hatred, sneakiness, and lying going on.

The ending will have you on pins and needles.

Thriller fans and domestic thriller fans will enjoy this book. 4/5

This was a great thriller with a fascinating premise. Two women leave their husbands and one moves into the other ones old home. Two families in crisis, secrets, deception, lies…the list goes on! Settle in and be prepared for surprises and twists!

The first chapter had me hooked....a newly single mother and her daughter moving into a new home...someone is watching them and doesn't want them moving into 'his home'....this got me ready for a suspense filled thriller and I continued reading hoping it would be one. Sadly, after the first chapter it was all kind of downhill from there...It was too light on suspense for my tastes...It wasn't a DNF for me but it was a forgettable read ⭐

Rouda did a masterful weaving of several storylines that eventually come together with an explosive conclusion. I was kept in suspense and could not put the book down until I reached the end.
