Thought-provoking sci-fi middle grade read with real world implications. The concept is fantastic, integrating a dystopian-type narrative with messages about inequality with regard to wealth, privilege, & opportunity. A hopeful approach to the examination of this topic, which may seem oversimplified for adults, but provides a good jumping off point for middle grade conversations. Includes some examination of important related emotional issues.

Another fantastic & thought-provoking middle grade novel by the amazing Haddix. I love everything she writes and this standalone is no different. In this book, rich children go to school in a classroom full of android children, to avoid bullying & concerns that could arise due to fiscal/societal inequalities. This has a younger feel to it than her other books so it would make a great start for readers before getting into her other books.
