Father Brown
Father Brown: Selected Stories | G. K. Chesterton
1 post
Shrewd and punctilious, with an intuitive awareness of the dark secrets of human nature gained in the confessional, Father Brown is well equipped to uncover the startling truth wherever murder, mayhem and mystery stalk society.

“William told me that the Helmsleys were evil. But in my experience, meeting people who feel like you do, it isn't evil I see. It's fear - fear of anyone who is like them - fear that the world's changing too fast - fear that their lives don't have any meaning, desperate for a scapegoat...but what always breaks my heart is that their capacity to see the humanity in other people, to see their souls, is so limited.“

jitteryjane724 This quote was in context of an episode about fascism, particularly just after WWII, but seems very relevant today as well. Sadly and ironically, G.K. Chesterton held anti-Semitic views, but this quote comes from a TV episode that was not written by him, just based off the characters he created. 10h
