Made just a few grabs today at local library book sale but thought these were cute :)
Didn‘t have scallions, and raw garlic is NOT my friend, but I made my own buttermilk (one tablespoon of vinegar per cup of milk) and this dressing was AH. MAZE. ING.
pickChicks and ducks and geese better scurry! Elna and Rancher Hicks have a most memorable day, though they are apart for most of it. A better use of the phrase "what the hay?" has never been made. Hilarity ensues. (Also: the author of this book wrote The Day Jimmy's Boa Ate the Wash, another classic)
