"An all-new historical mystery in this USA Today bestselling series featuring beloved inquiry agents Lady Kiera Darby and her dashing husband, Sebastian Gage. Argyll, Scotland. July 1832. After a trying few months in Edinburgh, Kiera and her husband/investigative partner, Sebastian Gage, are eager to escape to the Highlands with their three-month-old daughter. Kiera is overjoyed for her cousin Rye and friend Charlotte who are being wed in a private ceremony at the estate of Rye's great-uncle, the Marquess of Barbreck, in what seems to be the perfect wedding party. But when Kiera is invited to peruse Barbreck's extensive art collection, she is disturbed to discover that one of his most priceless paintings seems to be a forgery. The marquess's furious reaction when she dares to mention it leaves her shaken and the entire house shocked. Matters turn more ominous when a maid from a neighboring estate is found murdered where the forged painting hangs. Is her death connected to the forgeries, perhaps a grisly warning of what awaits those who dare to probe deeper? With unknown entities aligned against them, Kiera and Gage are forced to confront the fact that they may have underestimated their opponent. For they are swiftly made to realize that Charlotte and Rye's future happiness is not the only issue at stake, and this stealthy game of cat and mouse could prove to have deadly consequences"--

This is one of my favorite series, and this may be the best installment so far. I love the main characters who populate the series, but the others are just as well drawn. A great mystery, complicated but not not mind-bending. Unlike some of the other books in this series, I think you could enjoy this without having read all the previous ones. And as always, ALH has ended it with a cliffhanger.

Bklover I just love this photo. 2y
Lynnsoprano @Bklover Thanks! It was complete serendipity. The squirrels were running along the fence at our neighborhood park, and they‘re not afraid because people feed them. I still can‘t believe I caught it. 2y
Bette What a great action shot! 😊👍📸 2y

I‘m always happy when a new book in a favorite series releases. This one came out on Tuesday, and the only reason I‘ve waited three days to start reading it is because I knew that if I did, I‘d never finish the book in progress. Anxious to start. This has been my best reading month in a long time.

StaceGhost Aaahhh! I love this series! Thanks for the heads up about the new release 2y

This 10th in the Lady Darby series was anxiously anticipated (at least by me 🙋🏻‍♀️). We are introduced to the newest member of the series (and baby makes 3) as well as becoming more acquainted with Kiera‘s maternal Scottish family. She and Gage have journeyed to Argyll for a wedding (her cousin Rye and her friend Charlotte). Before the nuptials can take place, forgeries are discovered, an old feud is revisited and family loyalties are 🔻

robinb questioned. Murders and mayhem ensue until the evil villain is finally revealed. I thoroughly enjoyed this latest foray into the lives of the Gages, their families and friends, and as always I‘m already anticipating the next adventure. 5/5⭐️ 2y
robinb As an aside, if you can get a closer look at “Kiera” on the gorgeous cover (I know she‘s only in profile), who does she remind you of? Me? Daisy Ridley. 🤷🏻‍♀️😆 (edited) 2y
CoverToCoverGirl I so love this series! I need to do a re-read soon. 2y

robinb @CoverToCoverGirl Funny you should mention that! The author started a private FB group of fans, and she led a monthly read-along leading up to this 10th release. We were able to “meet” each month with her about each book with questions and comments for her. So fun to re-read for me and refresh my memory (especially of the earlier books). 2y
Bookzombie You aren‘t the only one anticipating this release! I love the audiobooks so I will wait patiently for my library to acquire it. I‘m glad you enjoyed it! 🙂 2y
robinb @Bookzombie I‘ve never been big on audiobooks, but I bet this series translates well in that form. 2y
Bookzombie It does. Heather Wilds does an excellent job with all of the voices and accents. 2y
