My first festive read of December + on my TBR list for the #WinterGames2021.
A slow paced, warm hearted, cosy story that was full of Christmas cheer. Meredith isn‘t keen on the festive season which the reader will find out why but with the arrival of Finn in the seaside town, will she maintain that Meredith just doesn‘t ‘feel‘ Christmas. I loved the sound of the seaside village and featured a great range of characters.

The Thursday Murder Club | Richard Osman

Mehso-so

Four residents in a peaceful retirement community meet up for a Thursday Murder Club to discuss unsolved mysteries. A local developer is found dead and the club find themselves in the middle of their first ‘live‘ case. Can they solve the murder before it‘s too late?
An enjoyable read and some quirky characters but it was too slow and too many character perspectives which where unnecessary and confusing.
Was looking forward to enjoying this so much

This has been on my TBR list for a while and I didn‘t know what to expect but I finished it in 3 days! Four famous siblings, the book is literally over the period of 24 hours. It‘s the day of the Riva‘s house party, renowned every year for its epic levels of partying. The party becomes out of control and so do that of the siblings lives. Explore lives, love and secrets that are explored in this family over the years.

Such a thought provoking book unlike anything I‘ve read before. The author having experienced mental health issues was able to make me feel as I was with Nora and I wanted to know where her journey would take her. It contained so many great quotes which I‘ve made a note of and can‘t wait to discuss the book at my book club meeting on Wednesday. It took me a while to get into but I‘m sure glad I persevered .

I‘d heard so much about this series but was slightly disappointed. Chloe is chronically ill but makes a list of things to do to help her ‘Get a life‘. Introducing Red-the opposite of Chloe who becomes the man to help her tick off her list.
A cute, sweet story which was interesting to see how Red was attentive/tender to Chloe‘s condition. A predictable ending but an enjoyable journey along the way.

So many books could be put in this list but if I had to choose five: Harry Potter and The Philosophers Stone, Twilight, Murder Most Unladylike, Jemima Small vs. the universe and Tilly and the book wanderers. I‘d love to hear yours

slategreyskies Harry Potter and the Philosopher‘s Stone was my first thought. Not sure what else to add to the list. 1mo
Crazeedi I usually don't reread, but if I did it would be the Montalbano series by Andrea Camilleri. It is the funniest detective series ever. In fact i think i will reread because they are not long books! 1mo

This was a light hearted read and made me fall in love with Paris. Hannah was a lovable character and you only want her to be happy. The only thing I wanted was to find out more about Leo‘s character. A great debut book!

A story following Connell and Marianne from teenage years to college life. A popular boy at school and the intensely private girl. These two connect on such a deep level. At school, they circle one another but Marianne veers into self destruction in later life. Can they save each other?
This is my first book by Sally Rooney who is able to scrutinise first love with great psychological prose and includes a complex, entanglement of characters.
