OK, getting a bit embarrassing… But it‘s Michael again for June #12booksof2022 🤷🏼♀️😳😂🤔🕵🏼📚💕 I was trying to choose another author, but then I read my review, and no way could I just ignore it. 3 Michael Wood books in a row now!
Another fantastic Matilda Darke series. A brave dig into the dark world of historical child abuse. What this book does so well is really explore our sense of morality and justice, but without lecturing us.
It's fantastic to get back with the DCI Darke family - by that, I mean her colleagues. There's little more I can say without spoilers other than this book reads well standalone, but even better in series.

Yet another great book in the series, where we see Matilda‘s grittiness showing through and the future of her unit is threatened. Trigger warning that the theme of this book is child sexual abuse and it did make one or two difficult chapters to read. The characterisation, plotting, pace etc around this was excellent. Strongly recommended, as is the rest of the series. A favourite series at the moment. @Tove_Reads
I‘m starting the new book in the truly excellent DCI Matilda Darke Series by Michael Wood, which Is published at the end of June. If you enjoy good detective crime fiction I strongly recommend this series. @Tove_Reads
