What happens when you can‘t stand your brother‘s best friend, you antagonize each other since childhood, you don‘t see each other for years while you go through some tough things, and then you find yourselves drawn together? What if? This was lovely, sad, and tense. A lot of work going on with our characters and their mental health in this one. Eddings is a talented author and I really loved these 2. #MarvellousMay @Andrew65

Busy week (my daughter graduated from college yesterday) so fitting in reading as I can but took me a few days to post. This book is excellent! I loved the writing, the care took with the characters, the Chicago setting, and the nods to Little Women. Mental health, grief, and challenging family dynamics all are addressed thoughtfully and this book has earned all the hype. 5 ⭐️ from me! #MarvellousMay @Andrew65

Andrew65 Congratulations to your daughter. 🍾🥂

45/150 While I thought the books premise was wildly creative, I found the execution lacking. The books pacing was a problem for me, it was erratic, jumping for fast paced actions scenes and chases to chapters where not much happens. Also trips to the "afterlife", an alternate realm when "ghosts" of people who died on or near the highway lived, was never clearly explained. 3.25/5

44/150 One of the best non-fiction books of 2023. It's an amazing story of courage, resilience, honor and betrayal. The Wager was wrecked while sailing around the Cape of Good Hope, leaving the survivors stranded on a desolate part of Patagonia. What they went through, and what they did to survive was tragic, at times inhumane, but ultimately inspiring. 5 🌟

jlhammar Great review! So glad you enjoyed. 11mo
AllDebooks Great review Andrew. I love nautical history. One of my favourite non-fiction reads is the story that inspired Melville to write Moby Dick 11mo

My May list🪄 Roughly put together but, I‘m happy with it.

Gonna try to stick to this list all month excluding anything unlisted that I‘ve got open or will open for therapy/self-help readons.

This YA fantasy about a young bruja from Brooklyn was delightful! Filled with ghosts, monsters, friends, and family, it is creative, magical and fun. I would love to see this as a movie or series. Great on #audio while cleaning the house! #BookspinBingo @TheAromaofBooks #marvellousmay #readathon @Andrew65

A sad but beautifully written memoir. The author will share her experience of her mother tragic death, how both of them suffered from racism and domestic abuse. You can see so well the domestic abuser mind schema (if that is the correct word) in those phone calls transcripts. Could her mother‘s death have been prevented?
