Cassie‘s facial muscles twitched in rebellion, but she forced her mouth into a big fake smile as her daughter entered the kitchen.

This was an impule read I found scouring Hoopla and I could not stop listening. What a heartbreaking story! And the author did a fantastic job. I have made a point to know as much as possible about the Holocaust but I'm ashamed to say I knew nothing of the Holodomor until picking this up. I highly recommend and am making a point to learn more about this horrific part of Urkrainian history

I smiled and cried (oh how I cried) reading this book. It‘s about the Holodomor of Ukraine during Stalins purge, so it‘s based on fact. Read authors note in the back first. Don‘t let the little type scare you—it will go fast as it‘s un-put downable. Bought through Amazon.
