When the crystal rain begins, Honeysuckle's life falls apart. She begins a dangerous journey to unravel what happened.

This horror graphic novel from Joe Hill is well executed, but content notes for injured / killed animals as well as people, violence, and one problematic queer trope.

KathyWheeler I love Joe Hill, but I can‘t decide if I want to read this. 11mo
Lauranahe I liked this story, though I only read the first one. What‘s the trope you didn‘t like? I let my gay daughter read it, but she‘s 13 so she loves anything with lady loving in it. 👀 11mo
Lauredhel @Lauranahe at the risk of being spoilery, though it does happen near the beginning : Bury Your Gays 11mo

This is a graphic novelization of the novella Rain from Joe Hill‘s Strange Weather collection. I didn‘t realize that when I bought it and when it immediately felt familiar I had to look it up. Even so, I‘m glad I got to read this. The artwork is lovely, and I really like the characters and story. I mean it‘s lovely for horror😆. There‘s even a Sphynx kitty cameo (things don‘t go well for him though, if that‘s a deal breaker for your horror.)

Enjoy Parable of the Sower and other hopeless stories where you know only bad things will happen over and over and over? This might be the comic for you! It's a pretty good read, though depressing and disturbing. The art is beautiful. Bonus points for a Colorado setting. I thought it would focus more on Honeysuckle and Yolanda. Content warnings for gore, death, grief, and animal death. #Comic #Colorado #LGBTQ

In other spots, the research went quite well!

Some of the Colorado research is a bit off for this graphic novel 😅 august is usually getting chilly (in Boulder it will be warmer, but a chill day is no surprise). Also, I'm pretty sure there's no turnpike in Colorado (mentioned earlier in the comic). 😆 (Update: I asked around and Highway 36 is sometimes called the Boulder Turnpike)

I think it's safe to say that this random waving snail is probably an Adventure Time reference. #EasterEgg #Comic #AdventureTime

Rain is a graphic novel of love, terror raining from the skies, death, and the wicked ways of the world.

Rain was an intense graphic novel that will leave readers punctured, but with bandaids of hope healing the wounds quickly enough. A must-read for fans of horror graphic novels that will leave you antsy to see what happens next while also dreading to find if anything gets worse.

I read the short story a while ago, so don‘t remember too much. I found this graphic novel to be beautiful; the artwork was gorgeous, and the story was great. Very quick read. I want more!
