I really wanted to like this book! But NGL it put me to sleep many times, and the funny? part is that I didn't actually feel like I missed anything important. I think the author does a really good job at fleshing out many of the world's details, such as the politics, but in a way that I felt detracted from the flow.

The reveal was pretty interesting but it felt like it dragged.

A decent read but very slow and dense

I ended up deciding to read some #netgalley titles. I finished two others and this one is the latest. It took me a minute to get into it but it's finally starting to pick up :000 #scifi

Mehso-so

In a world where millions of people no longer require sleep, journalist Jamie Vega spends all 24 of his daily waking hours trying to figure out who killed his boss. An intriguing concept, but the breathless present tense conspiracy plot and 2D secondary characters made it hard to connect with the narrator or his world. The ending was interesting enough to justify reading this book, but I might have enjoyed it more if it had taken its time.

🎧 Loved this audio-arc. Good narration!

It‘s many things rolled into one.

Cyberpunk, Genetic Engineering, mystery, drama.

A mystery … Did Jamie‘s boss kill himself?

Corporate intrigue … is more going on here than a pandemic related oddity?

Genetic engineering … would you do it if you could?

What could be the side effects to not sleeping … you think of the good things … learn more, make more, etc. but what about the costs?

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 👇🏻

Twainy There‘s also a little romance/relationship drama. (LGBTQ+)

Set in the near future. A pandemic appears to be responsible for a percentage of the population never having to sleep with no drawbacks, or is there? A lot to think about here!!

So much going on & done so well.

Available TODAY!

The Sleepless is Victor Manibo‘s debut novel, a smart noir mystery set in a near-future Manhattan where a segment of the population have lost the ability to sleep, thru a pandemic of unknown origin. With tech reminiscent of 𝘔𝘪𝘯𝘰𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘙𝘦𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵 & peopled like 𝘙𝘶𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘢𝘯 𝘋𝘰𝘭𝘭 it's a fascinating world. The mystery is a slow burn that bogs down a bit in the middle. Still, it gets ⭐⭐⭐⭐ from me.

Kenyazero Wow, the premise overview sounds like the opposite of the Sandman comics, featuring a mysterious sleeping illness. 2y
