When her husband Henry II died during a joust, Catherine de Medici replaced her previous personal device (a rainbow) with a broken lance and a Latin inscription that means “From this come my tears and my pain,“ and I respect her grief but that just feels a little extra.
The series “The serpent queen” on Starz is based on this book. I‘ve read a few books on her already. I can‘t remember exactly which ones😼. She was amazing.

bailedI‘m walking away from this book. My mind is probably not in the right place now for a heavy, at times dry, nonfiction. I‘m very interested in Catherine, and yet the book is not holding my interest. Maybe I‘ll try this later, but for now, I‘m waving goodbye to Catherine.
My interlibrary loan came in today...after watching GR TV show Reign, I really wanted to know more about Catherine.
