And I'd Do It Again
And I'd Do It Again | Aimée Crocker
2 posts | 1 read | 2 to read
With the world at her feet and Californian railroad fortunes in her purse, Aimée had a tale or two to tell. Here, she boldly delivers her hilarious memoirs of escaping headhunters in Borneo, avoiding poisoning in Hong Kong and outwitting murder in Shanghai. Not remotely cowered by her skirmishes with sin, shame or vice, Aimée celebrates her quintet of unfortunate husbands including a Russian prince almost forty years her junior and King Kalakaua of Hawaii, emboldened by her forcefulness to hold sway over the faint of heart. Aimée was a woman of means, not always a lady and never what you might call 'proper'. In this laugh-out-loud story of her life, she recounts her adventures with flair, invincibility and unapologetic gusto.

This should be fun! Loved THE THIRTEENTH HUSBAND and Greer's discussion on Friends and Fiction. Some of Aimee Crocker's escapades were so bizarre that Greer chose to focus on those that were referenced through additional sources in order to make her fictionalized novel more believable. Now on to Aimee's #memoir #AboutaBook @Eggs @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks

Pickpick

An autobiographical “highlights of my life†by a Aimee Crocker, a woman of means from a wealthy railroad family, California, born 1864. Aimee takes you on incredible (& almost unbelievable) adventure stories of a woman travelling solo through the Eastern continents in the late nineteenth century. She was brave & perhaps a little foolish, but this nonetheless saw her arrive in some magical and perilous situations. Quite a trip!
