Madison Square Murders
Madison Square Murders | C.S. Poe
3 posts | 5 read | 1 to read
Everett Larkin works for the Cold Case Squad: an elite—if understaffed and overworked—group of detectives who solve the forgotten deaths of New York City. Larkin is different from others, but his deduction skills are unmatched and his memory for minute details is unparalleled. So when a spring thunderstorm uproots a tree in Madison Square Park, unearthing a crate with human remains inside, the best Cold Case detective is assigned the job. And when a death mask, like those prominent during the Victorian era, is found with the body, Larkin requests assistance from the Forensic Artists Unit and receives it in the form of Detective Ira Doyle, his polar opposite in every way. Factual reasoning and facial reconstruction puts Larkin and Doyle on a trail of old homicide cases and a murderer obsessed with casting his victims’ likeness in death. Include some unapologetic flirting from Doyle, and this case just may end up killing Everett Larkin.

Anyone else stuck in time lately? I am loving that my husband actually got to take a couple of days while the kids were off school and I also had a few days off. My schedule and routine are obliterated and I'm never sure what I'm supposed to be doing at any given time, but am appreciating the living hell out of the past few days, even if I don't read or get as much done as I want to

Pickpick

A cold case detective with an unusual memory condition catches a case that is less cold than expected. I devoured this on the plane - and I‘m honestly sad that past me exercised restraint and didn‘t buy the whole series upfront because now I‘m going to have to wait until I get home and I can load the rest onto my kindle.

It took me a bit to get into this book, but it was such a good read. I will happily pick up the next few in the series. I wasn‘t expecting the ending to be like it was and I‘m not too fond of said ending, but the book was a really good read. If you like thrillers/murder mysteries that are lgbtq then this is a good read for you to pick up.
