The Dead Girls of Hysteria Hall
The Dead Girls of Hysteria Hall | Katie Alender
14 posts | 34 read | 28 to read
IN THIS ASYLUM, YOUR MIND PLAYS TRICK ON YOU ALL THE TIME ... Delia's new house isn't just a house. Long ago, it was the Piven Institute for the Care and Correction of Troubled Females -- an insane asylum nicknamed "Hysteria Hall." However, many of the inmates were not insane, just defiant and strong willed. Kind of like Delia herself. But the house still wants to keep "troubled" girls locked away. So, in the most horrifying way, Delia becomes trapped. And that's when she learns that the house is also haunted. Ghost girls wander the hallways in their old-fashioned nightgowns. A handsome ghost boy named Theo roams the grounds. Delia learns that all the spirits are unsettled and full of dark secrets. The house, too, harbors shocking truths within its walls -- truths that only Delia can uncover, and that may set her free. And she'll need to act quickly -- before the house's power overtakes everything she loves. Katie Alender brings heart-pounding suspense, gorgeous writing, and a feminist twist to this tale of memories and madness.

This book was amazing! At some parts it was kinda boring and wanted to skip ahead but towards the end you just wanna read the whole time

Cfischbuch It‘s one of the few scary ones that I‘ve finished. I can‘t believe anyone would go down into a basement of their own freewill. 5y

Finished my first book of my own personal scare-athon. Although I didn't absolutely LOVE it, I'm giving it a pick. It wasn't the books fault that it just wasn't exactly what I was looking for. The story was good, even if the main character was a wee bit flat in my opinion. Not a bad fluffy read though!

Since I am house/cat sitting this week, I've decided that being all alone in a big old farm house seems to be the perfect opportunity for some summer scares. Enjoying this one so far, even if it isn't what I expected it to be. 👻😱

Read.Em.And.Eat @tracey38 I always get a hankering for a good scare at this time of year! But I'm not really sure Why! Lol 🤔 6y

I just finished The Dead Girls of Hysteria Hall by Katie Alender! Honestly, I loved this book! Sure, the main character had some YA characteristics that I didn't like but it didn't overwhelm the book nor majorly influence my opinion. The characters were pretty cool... I wish some of the side characters had more development, same with the history of the institution.

I gave this book 4.5 stars out of 5. I recommend this book!

UPDATE:

I am still on the first book of my October challenge. I'm a little disappointed because I was hoping to, at least, be on the second book of my challenge. I've just been working a lot and going to bed early. Oh well, what can ya do?

I'm really getting into this book though! I'm not a fan of YA characters and Delia exhibits some of those characteristics that I don't like but that doesn't take too much away from the book.

Happy reading!

Two of my favorite things: books and food that's not good for me.

Book 1 of my reading challenge. So far so good. There are a few things that might be an issue for me but I'm only a few pages in so we will see.

Happy reading! ✨

I was very excited to read this book since I had absolutely loved the Bad Girls Don't Die trilogy by the same author. The book did not live up to my excitement. The main character's family is just plainly annoying + mc was also kinda annoying. Needless to say, I don't recommend this book🍃

This is definitely up there as one of my favorite YA #scaryreads. I read it last October and loved it! Creepy old mansion, lots of ghosts, and a good mystery. #AllHallowsRead
