This was a Litsy/cover buy. A different take on the haunted house trope, as it's about grief. I don't really like to explore that subject too much so it was just ok for me, as I wasn't going to go look too deep into it.

This is a quick read, but the emotional journey in it will linger. This is a story of how the living haunt the dead, but that is almost too simple to convey what Ai Jiang accomplishes in this novella.
The story is messy in a way that explores the complicated emotions around loss and living. At times, the narrative turns brutal and horrifying while Wenqi goes on her journey.
I know this review is vague, but I don‘t want to spoil anything.
This was a very different sort of haunted house book. Where the people in it actually want to be haunted. This is a very interesting look at grief and loss and what life is like in the aftermath. I loved the ongoing conversations surrounding death and how life is for the living…but is it?Very thought provoking and worth the read. The short stories included at the end were also really well done.
Linghun by Ai Jiang is a haunting tale filled with sorrow where the living tries to reconnect with the dead, no matter the cost.
Buckle in before picking this one up! It‘s a fun yet dark ride of reflecting on what grief can do to people!
