Getting in on this a little late since work has been a little extra this week. So I‘ll be doing this Saturday once I‘m off through Tuesday as @Andrew65 wonderfully suggested. I‘m hoping, at the very least, to read 20 chapters. Though I‘m going to be aiming for finishing:
Gory Details
Still Life
The Savage Kind
And both starting & finishing:
The Man Who Died Twice.
Ambitious, and way more than 20 chapters, but we‘ll see how I do. #20in4

I work part of this weekend, so most of my reading will be confined to one day. But I‘m hoping to finish the tagged novella for #bookspin and either finish The Martian or start and finish The Man Who Died Twice. Not sure which I‘m going to go for. Funny how even though I work surrounded by books, I have so little time to actually read them now 😅
@Andrew65

Andrew65 Loved The Martian. 2w
RainyDayReading @Andrew65 I‘m almost halfway through and really loving it! 2w

What a ride this was! Short chapters, multiple povs, with a plot that moved along at breakneck speed made it hard to put this down! While the ending was a little abrupt,there is room for a sequel, though this books story arc is complete at the end. Though there were a few plot points that were confusing/unnecessary, I enjoyed reading this too much to truly care. The world is fascinating and I enjoyed the characters, particularly Shell and Salvo.

This was a book I didn‘t know I needed to read. Written plainly in an easy to understand style, this book was mind opening, well thought out and humorous at times. I‘ll definitely be looking into more titles regarding mindfulness. I really enjoyed how every point that was brought up in this book was backed up by science and scientific studies. First book finished from my #NewYearWhoDis list and it‘s a hit! #NYWD @monalyisha @lou.reads.a.lot

It‘s finally my weekend! I‘m hoping to finish the tagged book at the very least and make some progress on one of my #bookspin/doublespin options. I‘m not going to be super ambitious because I‘m getting my booster shot tomorrow and I got really ill with the 2nd dose. Fingers crossed I don‘t get nearly as sick this time and can get some reading in. @Andrew65

Mehso-so

I don‘t know how I feel about this. I guess I was expecting something different. The characters were flat and the writing was unclear at times. The plot seemed to be going one way but ultimately doesn‘t make sense. Seemed like it couldn‘t decide what to be, a ghost story or a comment on horror movie tropes. The whole story was just meh.Loved the idea and use of Japanese mythology, but fell flat otherwise. #bookspinbingo @TheAromaofBooks

TheAromaofBooks Great progress!! 4w
Kappadeemom That cover though!😳 4w
RainyDayReading @TheAromaofBooks Thanks! I‘m hoping to keep the momentum going 😁 4w
RainyDayReading @Kappadeemom Right?! Love the cover, but unfortunately it‘s the best thing about the book 😅 4w

This was quite fun! I really enjoy Val and Grandad as main characters, they feel like real people which can be hard to do at times with cozies. The mystery was intriguing and the ending solution surprised me. Definitely one of the higher quality cozies I‘ve read. Looking forward to the next installment! #bookspinbingo @TheAromaofBooks

My first #bookspin and #doublespin of 2022 are The Black Tides of Heaven and Assassin‘s Orbit! I also pulled the first 2 cards from my TBR Deck of Cards and wound up with Mood Read and 1st in a series. Overall, not a bad start. I‘ll probably focus on the card prompts the second half of the month since nothing is immediately jumping out to me for either prompt. @TheAromaofBooks @Clwojick

It was hard to narrow down, but I‘ve managed to pick some reads for #NewYearWhoDis 😁 I already owned Killers of the Flower Moon, Queen of the Tearling and The Martian. So I‘m taking it as a sign that now is the time to read them since they appeared on the list! I‘ve got the tagged book out from the library and have Still Life by Louise Penny on hold! Can‘t wait to get started! @lou.reads.a.lot @monalyisha

monalyisha Wow! I think your match of circumstance just might naturally be a perfect one! 🍀 4w
RainyDayReading @monalyisha I think you‘re right! There were a couple other books on their list that I‘d already read and enjoyed, and there‘s a book I put on my list that they were going to put on theirs! Don‘t think our impromptu match could have gone better if we tried! 😁 4w

Nearly forgot to post my #bookspinbingo list for January. Hoping to kill off the last books I have out from the library and then turning to focus on the books I already own….at last that‘s the plan 😅 @TheAromaofBooks

This was hands down my favorite book from January 2021. One of my favorite books for the full year actually. Highly recommend. Especially if you‘re into subjects that are slightly weird/macabre.

The image isn‘t great, but it says: Dark Archives-A Librarian‘s investigation into the science and history of books bound in human skin.

@Andrew65

Andrew65 This does sound weird / macabre 🤣 1mo
RainyDayReading @Andrew65 It‘s so good though! It has more to do with medical history and science than most would believe. Such a fascinating book. 1mo

A fun, quick read about some of history‘s deadliest/most notorious female killers featuring illustrations of said murderesses. Many of these I knew about, some I didn‘t. Fans of true crime would probably enjoy sitting down with this one. It doesn‘t go super in depth, but it gives you enough to peak your interest. At the very least, it serves as a reminder that you shouldn‘t underestimate women!

Low pick. This was entertaining. Reminds me of a Poirot novel where he has all the answers and reveals them right at the end. If you‘re looking for a classic British mystery vibe I would give this a shot. Snowbound train/quickly abandoned house and our cast of characters have to figure out the mystery whether they want to or not. #wintergames #mistletoemaniacs

Andrew65 Has a very 1930s feel. 1mo
RainyDayReading @Andrew65 It was originally published in 1937/38! Definitely gives off those vibes. 1mo
