Somehow, this series just keeps getting better! Dinniman continues to expand on the lore and the politics as the action ramps up the deeper we get in the dungeon.
While the humor remains through much of this book, we also get more of the deeper emotional moments, including a few that left me absolutely reeling.
As always, I finished this one and had to dive straight into the next book!

This serious continues to be very comforting in a time of real world dumpster fires. Carl and Donut are on the sixth floor and we start to see the true emotional toll that fighting for survival is taking. I like that this could have been a cheesy video game book but instead goes for real character growth and emotional stakes.

The 6th level takes the crawlers to the Hunting Grounds, where the universe‘s wealthiest families and organizations can send members to kill crawlers with abandon.
But they‘ve never met Carl before. He makes it his personal mission to kill as many hunters as possible, which paints an even bigger target on his back and makes things uncomfortable when crawlers and hunters meet at the Butcher‘s Masquerade right before the floor collapses.

Another fantastic adventure with Carl & Princess Donut! 5⭐️

LitRPG is not for all readers, but for those of us who love it, I‘m not sure we‘ll ever tire of Carl trawling through the dungeon in his heart-printed boxer shorts outfoxing the rules with the help of Princess Donut and a dwindling cast of fellow crawlers. Many deaths in book 5 and a huge gulp moment at the very end.

#TenBeforeTheEnd progress is better than I would have thought when I created my original line up. Planning on finding more audiobook time because I‘ve got just under 10 hours to go on tagged book. 14 hours if I need to drop my speed. Audiocooking requires a slower speed for me. I don‘t think it will take me long to read Bookshops & Bonedust, so I think I‘m actually going to finish this challenge, which makes me feel great about wrapping up 2024.

#weekendreads … mid … amazing … 6-star! OK … recommendation X2!! I loved Sufficiently Advanced Magic (book 1) & I‘m LOVING The Butcher‘s Masquerade (Dungeon Crawler Carl, book 5).
