Doing the NYE afternoon book & beer thing. I‘m really feeling THE EMPRESS OF EARTH now the characters have actually made it to Earth, but I‘ve still got about 120 pages left so I dunno if I‘ll have time to finish it today. We‘ll see what happens with the rest of the afternoon.
The beer was my first IPL, and I liked it about as much as I like the average IPA; ie, I‘ll drink when it comes in a variety pack, but I wouldn‘t seek it out again.
I tried to start THE EMPRESS OF EARTH earlier this week, but I just couldn‘t find enough time to sit down with it AND finish the first chunk of my Fullmetal Alchemist reread. Since there was a deadline on that, I‘m now getting properly stuck into this with help from Wesley, Cooper, and Rocco (not pictured). I hope I‘ll be able to finish it tomorrow, but if not, I‘ll deal.
I did way better on my second pass through the Book Market: another wishlist title, some recent issues of ANALOG and F&SF, and a great-looking cookbook, all for $7.50.
