In 1998, in the Andes Mountains of Peru, Dirk Pitt dives into an ancient sacrificial pool, saving two American archaeologists from certain drowning. But his death-defying rescue is only the beginning, as it draws the intrepid Pitt into a vortex of darkness and danger, corruption and betrayal. A sinister crime syndicate has traced the long-lost treasureworth almost a billion dollarsfrom the Andes to the banks of a hidden underground river flowing beneath a Mexican desert. Driven by burning greed and a ruthless bloodlust, the syndicate is racing to seize the golden prize...and to terminate the one man who can stop them.

Cussler was my fave author when I was about 20. I adored the Dirk Pitt series. Then something happened. Cussler started writing books with others, and the spark went away. I haven‘t touched his books in years. Has anything good happened with his books so I should start reading them again?

TK421 I like his Fargo adventures, and some of his Isaac Bell books are pretty good. 6y

#WriterNerds day 4. What book have you read the most in your life?

I had to think about it. I finally decided on Inca Gold by Clive Cussler because it was the first book that REALLY got me into reading. Without this book I wouldn't be an author. I've read it so many times, even though it isn't my favorite in the Dirk Pitt series. It just holds a special place in my heart. I own all of the series and there are over 25

I was struggling to find anything for the prompt today and then suddenly it hit me that I have the tagged book. While looking for it, I found another where Cussler used the word #Gold in the title. #JuneTunz

Pickpick

This is the book that got me into reading in 6th grade. After it, I began to devour books. I read as many Dirk Pitt novels as I could find and then I read my way through the Jr. High library and moved into the high school one. I became the librarian's TA and was able to order books and get more people interested in reading. I now own the entire Dirk Pitt series plus some of Cussler's other work. I will forever cherish this book.
