Right, well hopefully this time my #PoutineAndPaperbacks selection gets to you @DebbieGrillo

@CouronneDhiver I received your card (as seen above), thank you and I‘m sure you‘ll offer an amazing pick again. (No pressure though).

@TheKidUpstairs I‘m nearly done the last #steepedinstories then I‘ll do the off cycle book and send it off.

(It‘s called Reflections of Norway by Ink Circles - what I‘m working until the rest of the last one is ready)

CouronneDhiver Omg - I‘m losing my mind. I think that card was supposed to be IN the package with the book. 😂 Must have gotten mixed in with all my JB Mail (edited) 1y
drokka @CouronneDhiver Hahaha. I wondered, but then thought maybe you were still reading through it since there was the one book you didn‘t finish. No worries. I‘m sure the book will follow soon. 😂 1y

CouronneDhiver Megan‘s last round book should be at her place by Tuesday (🤞🏽) @TheKidUpstairs My pick and Megan‘s pick for this round - both yellowish covers - should be arriving at your place on Tuesday too... along with your owl bookmark. @drokka I really hope I kept them all straight... I‘ve been going through a really hard time lately. Thoroughly distracted! 1y
BookishTrish Sorry things have been tough @CouronneDhiver 🤗 1y
CouronneDhiver Thanks @BookishTrish I got some health news awhile ago (which, it turns out, won‘t be too serious) but I took it really poorly and now I‘m recovering from all the upset/anxiety. I‘m off work to give myself a little more time/space. Allowing myself a wide range of emotions about the whole thing (not my usual M.O) is exhausting! 1y
CouronneDhiver Everything arrive ok @drokka and @TheKidUpstairs ? 1y
drokka Oh my gosh! I completely forgot to update this. Not only has it arrived, but today I sent off your selection to @DebbieGrillo - another good pick btw. 1y
TheKidUpstairs @CouronneDhiver ack, sorry! I forgot to post. Yes! It arrived. Loved reading all your thoughts, as usual, ladies! 1y
CouronneDhiver Oh good! I‘m really pleased that you enjoyed it 😄 @drokka 1y
CouronneDhiver Haven‘t seen you posting anything lately... you ok? 14mo
drokka @CouronneDhiver Just getting over a cold, but otherwise good. I‘ve just super busy for the past six months and some of the things going on in the world are really bothersome for me, so I tend to back away from social stuff when that happens. It‘s nothing about the folk here, who are wonderful; it‘s that I struggle being positive in times like these and don‘t want to drag folk down. P.S. I received the book yesterday. 🙂 Thanks for checking on me. 14mo

I can‘t believe we‘re already on our last books for #SteepedinStories 😢
Just look at all that tea and M&S ginger snaps (how @TheKidUpstairs knew they‘re my fav is beyond me).

This is @MPick selection, and can I just say - what a first line!

Okay, so @MPick I put @BookishTrish selection in the post to you, should have it Mon/Tues

Also, @CouronneDhiver Thomas is on his way home, and @DebbieGrillo my pick for #PoutineandPaperbacks is on it‘s way

LeahBergen What a perfect tea and biscuit blend. 👍🏻 1y

5280reader Love Yorkshire Gold! 1y
drokka @DebbieGrillo I miswrote the name of your street, so they returned the book. Why the postal code and the slightly incorrect address wasn‘t sufficient is beyond me (I wrote Thames instead of Thomas). Anyway, it‘s too late to send it off today, I‘ll try to get it back in the post by Tuesday. Apologies for the delay. 1y

After much deliberation, and an arm@injury from stitching (who knew you could hurt yourself performing passive crafts?) I have decided on a book for #PoutineAndPaperbacks Round 3.

So, the photo is of the offending stitching project (which I‘m completely in love with and that‘s probably why I‘m hurt - stitching 12 hour days on end).

P.S. I couldn‘t tag anyone

Have been listening to The Jane Austen Project for the #LitsyBookClub and it has compelled me to do something I've vowed I wouldn't do, read an Austen book. Admittedly, my judgement on the stories are based on other media, and based on that I've picked the one story I could sort of get behind. So this is completely #BlameItOnLitsy #150PnPCoverParty

The book beneath is a candidate for #LMPBC #GroupW that I also purchased #bookhaul

ReadingRover @drokka Exactly! Omg the things he went through for tennis! 🎾 The irony is that he pretty much hates tennis and after reading the book I don‘t blame him! 2y

My first #audiobook of 2018 doubles as my first entry in the #ssdgmchallenge for the Agatha Christie Novel prompt. I must say, I was spoiled with Suchet's narration of Murder on the Orient Express. Not that Penelope Dellaporta is not good, she's just not Poirot.

#murderino #ssdgm #mfm

benchley1 I only go for Suche, hugh fraser, or emilia fox when I listen. Anyone feels wrong. 2y
shanebeth yay! 2y

mabell I agree with the narrator comments! I'm listening to a Roger Ackroyd right now, and I don't care for the reader at all! I keep on because it is the only one available through hoopla and I would rather listen than not 😂 2y

Starting the year with finishing the #TheCanadianTour selection, and searching for inexpensive recipes to put a cookbook together for my niece who has moved out for the first time today. Both she and her boyfriend are college students, so I figured this is a good start along with her favourites that my mum makes. (I'm adding a mac &a cheese only section too - some less healthy than others). Maybe they won't notice there's no meat.

Tamra I would have loved it, very thoughtful! 2y

This is the 14th (of 16) book in the Home Repair is Homicide series. I listened to the first 13 in 2017. I'm starting this one for the #NewYearsReadathon
Unlikely I'll finish it tonight, so it'll be the first I finish in 2018. #ilovecozies

melissanorr That series is on my TBR! I haven't started it yet but I have heard good things. 2y
drokka @melissanorr I quite like it. The character development is very good and the series arc is well thought through. I recommend it. 2y

I reckon this will be my last (audio) book of 2017. I may squeeze in another before midnight tomorrow, but doubt it, unless I get a lot of this one listened to tonight. Didn't plan such a heavy topic to end the year, but then I think maybe it's apropos.

TheAnitaAlvarez It‘s a good one, even if the subject matter is rather dark 2y
GondorGirl I just bought this one today. ❤ 2y

The lovely @Ambrosnazzy is hosting another #LitsyPartyofOne This will be the first of 2018 and always seem to come at the perfect time. In honour of Martin Luther King Jr. the theme, if you so desire to go the thematic route, is Persons of Colour (POC).

While this isn't a statutory holiday in Canada, we do acknowledge (maybe even observe) the day. Do other non-US nations also do that?

JazzFeathers It isn't something we know about here in ltaly. I learned it from American friends a few years ago 😊 2y

I was really hoping that the over-judgemental, often condescending protagonist would have been tamped down in the second of the series, but it seems to have gotten worse. I'd call her a curmudgeon even.

(I am willing to concede that it might be worsened because I'm listening to it as an audiobook, and it might be that I would read differently than it is voiced).

#ilovecozies

melissanorr I didn't like her in the first book and hadn't planned to read the second. If you had said she got significantly better, I might have changed my mind. 2y
drokka @melissanorr I'd hoped this one would have been better too. I won't be reading the third. Normally I'll give an author three books before giving up, with one exception - a completely unlikeable protagonist. This is only the second series (the other was a different author) where book two was the end for me. 2y
mabell I agree - though it made it a little easier to take when I remembered she was somewhat channeling Holmes. I don't know if I would read the second or not. 🤔 2y

drokka @mabell I gave some allowance for the channelling of Holmes, but having also read two other female characters that channel him (A Study in Charlotte and A Study in Scarlet Women) I feel like the author maybe tried to hard and it comes off as hostile rather than a low level EQ. 2y
Amie I bailed on the first book partly because of the main character's personality. 2y
mabell That is a good point! I have A Study in Charlotte on my TBR, so it will be interesting to compare. 2y
