Completed book 6 for #DiseaseoftheMonthBookClub (Prompt: Read a book about cancer) This is about the employees at the Goodyear Tire Co. in Niagara Falls, NY, and the outbreaks of work-related cancers caused by exposure to toxic chemicals. I love a good narrative nonfiction. This one was a little more “nonfiction” and a little less “narrative” than I prefer. But still a good read.

Suet624 Bless you for reading depressing U.S. stories during this time 3mo

Amiable @Suet624 I work at an academic medical system, so depressing healthcare stories are kind of in my wheelhouse to stay informed for my job! Sadly. 3mo

First 5⭐️ read of the year! I hate cancer more than anything. And I hate that people and families feel like it is a personal, private struggle. The primary blame belongs to corporations that pollute and fail (repeatedly) to protect workers. My hometown has a PCB superfund site. Does yours?

CaliforniaCay Oooh this sounds interesting. Cool puzzle! 14mo
MemoirsForMe I grew up in NJ, the state with the most sites. Oh my! 14mo
SamAnne I grew up in the Oregon coast forests in the 70s where Weyerhaeuser regularly dumped herbicides on us. An herbicide in the same family as Agent Orange. Caused one of my elementary school classmates to be hospitalized. Less than 2 years ago I was diagnosed with breast cancer (currently in remission). I have one male friend who had breast cancer—and other ailments. He flew Agent Orange missions in Vietnam. We both suspect a connection. 14mo
