Second in the Lord Julian mysteries, this builds on a series that I‘m enjoying more and more.
Here Lord Julian is summoned by his ducal brother to the family seat to provide diversionary tactics from a marriage-minded neighbor. While visiting, said neighbor‘s (Lady Clarissa) artist brother goes missing, and he is asked to help locate him.
I really enjoy Lord Julian‘s character. As illegitimate, we see the prejudice and snubbing that he faces 🔽

robinb from Polite Society, but as a refreshing change from most other historicals centered around illegitimate heirs, we also see a very supportive and loving family. He‘s intelligent (and especially good at tracking from his stint during the war), straightforward and humorous, all of which I like in a leading character. I also very much enjoy the co-stars in his stories…his brother, his godmother and his former love interest from before the war. 🔽

robinb Burrowes does an exceptional job with establishing and growing her characters, and I am continually onboard with reading anything she puts out. 4.25/5⭐️ 2mo
