⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Is it real or fake? Everything is engineered. Set in the not-too-distant future, this novel challenges many current-day issues and what they could become. Stolen cell pregnancy, non-consensual reproduction, bio security guards. I read this as a bit of technological satire. I‘m not sure it was meant to be taken that way, but it worked for me.

A little out of my wheelhouse, but a solid rec from a good friend.

Set in the not-so-distant future, reproduction has become a billion dollar industry in which prospective parents of any mix of genders can use their DNA to create embryos and then choose the embryo that has the most desirable traits. What is starting a newly elite race of humans has also opened the door for black market DNA sales to create a baby with your favourite celebrity.
Few weak points in the plot, but a different story is always nice.

This #aardvark selection was a definitely a right book/right time choice. I loved it! It was just the SciFi escape I needed!

In the near future, people can create eggs and sperm from any cells, and Quinn serves as a surrogate for couples who can‘t carry a baby. She becomes convinced she‘s carrying the baby of a famous rock star, but he has hired a woman in biosecurity to make sure he never leaves a trace of cells. So whose baby is it?

I enjoyed this book so much more than I thought I would! This book grabbed me from the start and didn‘t let go until the end. I can definitely believe that these advancements in DNA could happen in the near future.

This book was told in three different perspectives with different stories and I was dying to know how it all tied together. When it all tied together my jaw dropped.

In her experience, people were often like onions. The more layers you peeled back, the more they stunk.
